A viral video posted to TikTok this week raised a discussion about the high prices on Chick-fil-A and other fast food menus, particularly where healthier options like fruit and vegetables are concerned.

Holding a half-full cup of fruit salad up to the camera, TikToker Brooke (@frankgallagherdupe) called it “highway robbery” that she paid $6.29. The video has amassed over 134,800 times since it was first posted July 28.

Viewers were quick to point out that the fruit cup isn’t the only shockingly high-priced item on the restaurant’s menu.

Viewers weigh in on the fruit cup value

“12 count grilled nuggets are $8.29!” one wrote.

“They made me pay for an empty salad container today,” another user shared.

One Chick-fil-A worker was surprised by the meager contents of the cup. “That’s a large and should have been a lot fuller than that,” @fearless.me.76 opined.

A fixed high cost of fruits and vegetables that has trended for a decade in the U.S. has led Americans to pay 40% more for them, while the country continues to import much more produce than it exports (though the rate of vegetable imports is about 25 percent higher than that of fruit.)

Rising fast food prices

Fast food prices in general, as noted by the Consumer Price Index, are rising at an inflation rate of 5.8 percent earlier this year. Customers didn't need data to tell them that, however. Many fast food fans are in uproar over increased prices lately.

Several viewers noted that the apples layered on the bottom of the fruit cup often tasted bitter. According to their website, Chick-fil-A sources most of their produce from West Coast states like California and Arizona, but the apples served in their fruit cups come from various locations depending on region and time of year. West Coast restaurants serve apples predominantly from Cashmere, Washington while East Coast locations get theirs from New York farms in the western part of the state.

Other users suggested cheaper alternatives for buying fruit in the TikTok’s comment section, including Panera and Whole Foods. “We sell them same fruit mix and all, wayyyy cheaper,” one Panera worker shared.

“It’s like 3 bucks and the box is full, sometimes they even have 50 percent off,” user dani3elaa said of Whole Foods fruit cup offerings.

‘Did I get got?’: Chick-fil-A customer questions if she got scammed after one meal comes out to $30 https://www.dailydot.com/news/chick-fil-a-costs-30-dollars/ Mon, 29 Jul 2024 15:00:00 +0000 https://www.dailydot.com/?p=1634035 young woman in car with caption "$30 a meal is crazy @Chick Fil A" (l&r) Chick-fil-A sign (c)

What's the most you would pay for a Chick-fil-A meal? Whatever number you gave is probably still lower than what this first-time Chick-fil-A customer's meal cost.

Fast-food prices have been increasing

In the last decade, fast-food menu prices rose between 39% and 100% on average—that’s well above the rate of inflation during that time, a Finance Buzz study found.

Of all the fast-food spots, McDonald’s has had the most dramatic price increases, with menu prices doubling on its most popular items. Popeye’s, Taco Bell, and Chipotle closely followed behind.

Chick-fil-A's prices also outpaced inflation, but its prices increased about 55% in a decade. That's about 20 percentage points above inflation.

With all that, a fast-food meal could easily run you $10-$20, depending on where you go and what you get.

How much did this customer's Chick-fil-A meal cost?

In a TikTok video with more than 70,000 views, TikToker Jay'Meya (@theonlyjaymeya) shared that she went to Chick-fil-A for the first time and was taken aback by the price.

"Did I get got?" she asks, thinking maybe the cashier scammed her.

Jay'Meya explains that she got herself a spicy deluxe sandwich meal with a signature milkshake, and her total came out to $31.30.

"Does that sound right?" she asks, implying that it seems like a lot of money to hand over for a fast-food meal.

In a follow-up video, Jay'Meya gave more detail on what exactly she got. The Daily Dot pulled up prices (from a NYC location) to better understand the price breakdown.

A spicy deluxe sandwich meal (with side salad) is $15.59, while a large fry is $4.15. And a milkshake is $5.79.

Together, that's $25.02—let's say about $27.52 with tax. That's still a few dollars less than what Jay'Meya paid. Ouch.

While Jay'Meya enjoyed the meal, she still seemed uncertain about the hefty price tag. In a comment reply, she said she got charged extra for nuggets (that she didn't order) and the salad.

You know what else you can get for $30? Here's a quick list:

  • A movie theater ticket and maybe a snack
  • A T-shirt
  • A cheapish blender
  • Three-month music streaming subscription
  • A book or two
  • A drugstore face wash and moisturizer
  • A karaoke microphone
  • Fancy socks
  • A nice water bottle
  • A Roku
  • An OK-ish kitchen knife

"Like I could’ve got hibachi for that price," she said in a comment reply.

People in the comments section had a lot to say on the matter.

"31? I spend like 13," the top comment read.

"Imagine if they had a website or app or sum where you could see the exact price of their items," another person said sarcastically.

"He got youuu," another said.

‘I LEAVE AMERICA FOR 2 WEEKS AND THIS HAPPENS’: Customer freaks out over Chick-fil-A waffle fries changing https://www.dailydot.com/news/chick-fil-a-waffle-fries-new-recipe/ Sun, 28 Jul 2024 10:00:00 +0000 https://www.dailydot.com/?p=1631450 Chick-fil-a sign(l), Waffle fries(c)

Chick-fil-A has to come out and say it amid viral misinformation: The waffle fries aren't going away. But Chick-fil-A is testing out a revamped waffle fry recipe at select United States locations, according to the company’s website.

TikTok users are grieving at the potential loss of the original fries. For instance, user @kxmilxi posted a slideshow video recently in response to this Chick-fil-A experimentation.

In it, there are two photos of the restaurant’s waffle fries. The longing lyrics “But baby I don’t wanna say goodbye” from Billie Eilish’s “Birds of a Feather” play in the background.

“This recipe change is part of a test to maintain the same great flavor guests have come to love, with one change—making our waffle fries crispier,” the Chick-fil-A website reads.

The crispier version of the fast food chain’s iconic fries have a blend of starches which are not in the original.

This recipe test may have been in place for over a year, according to several posts on the Chick-fil-A subreddit.

In a year-old post, Reddit user @RebeccaDeMornay said she was in the test market for crispier fries for six to 12 months.

“It spoiled me,” the customer wrote. “Does anyone know if they will become the standard version in the future? The fries were noticeably crispier without losing any flavor. Ever since my local restaurants switched back it’s been nothing but soggy fries.”

Seven months ago, Reddit user @anders1311 posted about new waffle fries at Chick-fil-A, too.

“Both CFAs I frequent began serving really crunchy waffle fries this week,” the customer said. “It’s not a good crunch – think biting into sand bits in the fries, even when cold. I think they did something similar to Wendy’s fries where they coated them with something to keep them crunchy at any temperature.”

A Chick-fil-A employee commented about the effects of the information of the restaurant’s fry experimentation spreading.

“We are still serving the fries,” the employee said. “I’ve gotten so many phone calls asking if we got rid of them.”

“My town did the new fries and then they went away months ago and we are back to normal ones,” another viewer commented. “Maybe it’s a trial run???”

Chick-fil-A tests crispier fries

The crispier fries are not yet permanent Chick-fil-A menu items, but the chicken company wants customers to share their thoughts on the new recipe.

Chick-fil-A did not immediately respond to the Daily Dot’s inquiry about the motivation behind the change. Or the testing process. Or regarding any feedback the company has received thus far.

However, customers shared their thoughts on this recent menu experimentation in the comments of @kxmilxi’s video.

“NO WAY,” one customer wrote. “I ONLY LIKE THEIR FRIES.”

“I LEAVE AMERICA FOR 2 WEEKS AND THIS HAPPENS,” another said.

“First the chicken now the fries,” another commented.

Earlier this year, Chick-fil-A started using chicken raised with "No Antibiotics Important to Human Medicine." The company’s website says Chick-fil-A implemented this change in order “to maintain supply of the high-quality chicken you expect from us.”

According to Chick-fil-A’s website, the fast-food chain is also trying out other menu items at certain locations. This includes a pretzel cheddar club sandwich, banana pudding treats, a cauliflower sandwich, and a citrus berry salad.

“WHY ARE THEY CHANGING EVERYTHING,” one viewer commented.

TikTok user @kxmilxi did not immediately respond to the Daily Dot’s request for comment.

‘Girl what cfa….i just had some’: Chick-fil-A worker eats regular fry on break—and warns waffle fries are going away https://www.dailydot.com/news/chick-fil-a-fries-changing/ Tue, 23 Jul 2024 13:00:00 +0000 https://www.dailydot.com/?p=1629057 Woman talking(l+r), Chick-fil-a sign(c)

Chick-fil-A fans are worried about a possible change in the chain’s menu. That fear is as follows: is Chick-fil-A getting rid of its famous waffle-cut fries?

The chain’s fries aren’t the only topic related to the restaurant being discussed by internet users. For example, after Chick-fil-A announced that it would be changing the sourcing of its chicken, many users took to the internet to share their distaste for the new meat, with some comparing the texture to rubber.

Now, a seemingly innocuous video from a Chick-fil-A employee has internet users questioning whether the chain plans on ditching its famous fries.

Is Chick-fil-A getting rid of waffle cut fries?

To be clear, Chick-fil-A does not appear to have any plans to swap out its waffle cut fries for any other variety. But one would be forgiven for thinking that they might be after watching a recent video from TikTok user Briana (@bri.daniela1), which currently has over 2.3 million views.

In the video, Briana eats fries while wearing a Chick-fil-A employee outfit. The fries do not appear to be waffle cut.

“Me bc they took away waffle fries,” she writes in the text overlaying the video.

Immediately, commenters began to question whether Briana’s statement about Chick-fil-A getting rid of its waffle fries was accurate.

“Don’t pmo cause I don’t play abt them fries,” said a user.

“Don’t even play like that,” echoed another.

Several noted that such a change was unlikely, as they had recently been able to purchase waffle fries from the chain.

“Unt unt i had chickfila tdy and i got the waffle fries,” stated a commenter.

"i had them yesterday," offered a second.

Commenters share their waffle fry thoughts

Thankfully, Briana noted in a follow-up video that she was not being serious about Chick-fil-A getting rid of its waffle fries. On Chick-fil-A’s website, waffle fries are still the only fries being offered.

Commenters under the new video were thankful that their beloved fries weren’t going away any time soon.

“THANK YOU I WAS SO SCARED I LOVE MY WAFFLES FRIES,” said a user.

“Not you lyinngg girl u genuinely had me scared,” added another.

The Daily Dot reached out to Briana via TikTok DM and Instagram comment, and Chick-fil-A via email.

‘Not very my pleasure of them’: Woman can’t believe what Chick-fil-A referred to her car as on receipt  https://www.dailydot.com/news/chick-fil-a-drive-thru-car-receipt/ Wed, 17 Jul 2024 01:00:00 +0000 https://www.dailydot.com/?p=1622297

You might remember the time when the internet was buzzing over videos of baristas misspelling customer names on coffee cups. Now, it looks like Chick-fil-A drive-thru employees are taking it a step further. One location subtly roasted a customer's car on their receipt.

In a video, TikTok user Samantha (@saltyyssam) showed a drive-thru receipt that unintentionally made fun of her vintage Ford Mustang. The video was posted on July 11 and racked up over 3.9 million views since.

In the clip, Samantha films her Chick-fil-A receipt, which has a rather unusual descriptor under the "guest" section. It reads: "OLD WHITE CAR."

Accompanying the video is Samantha’s reaction in the form of an on-screen caption. It reads: “They said I was driving an old white car.” The caption is followed by a string of crying-laughing emoji. The clip then cuts to a quick shot of her car. She has an off-white 1965 Ford Mustang with a red interior that looks like it’s in pristine condition.

Customers share similar experiences

In the comments section of the video, some users claimed they’ve also had their cars unintentionally roasted by drive-thru employees.

“I drive a Mazda CX-5 and the kid who took my order marked it as VAN on my receipt,” one user shared.

“Last week they called my black SUV a grey crossover bc of how dirty it was,” another commenter claimed.

“One time co worker put ‘beat up Chevy’,” an alleged drive-thru worker claimed.

"You said old white car and I expected an 06 maxima not a gorgeous masterpiece," the top commenter wrote.

While this might be the most lighthearted example, this is not the first controversial Chick-fil-A receipt story that went viral.

A veteran in Arizona received a rude comment about his weight. In Houston, a Chick-fil-A worker wrote "China" instead of a customer's name, sparking uproar.

Additionally, a North Carolina woman reported finding a racial slur on her daughter's Chick-fil-A receipt instead of her name, prompting an apology from the company.

The Daily Dot has reached out to Samantha via TikTok comment and to Chick-fil-A via the media request form on its website.

‘Always order with the app so I don’t hear their judgment’: Chick-fil-A customer tries to upgrade her combo. She can’t believe the worker’s response https://www.dailydot.com/news/chick-fil-a-cool-wrap-fries/ Wed, 10 Jul 2024 16:00:00 +0000 https://www.dailydot.com/?p=1617104 Woman talking(l+r), Chick-fil-a app on phone(c)

This woman's awkward drive-thru interaction with a Chick-fil-A worker shows why more people are choosing to order on the app instead.

Chick-fil-A is known for a lot of things: great chicken, supporting anti-LGBTQIA+ stances, friendly customer service, and being closed on Sundays. A real mixed bag, right?

But being the healthiest option is not one of the core things the fast-food chain is known for, even though they've added some healthier options to the menu like the grilled chicken Cool Wrap.

The Cool Wrap—which has lettuce, cheese, and grilled chicken breast in a flaxseed flour flat bread—has started gaining popularity as a "healthier" menu item.

But when this woman went to order it at her local Chick-fil-A she was seemingly met with judgement from the drive-thru worker who questioned her meal choice.

Chick-fil-A worker calls out customer's order

In a viral video with more than a quarter million views, Daisy Jo Rogers (@daisyjorogers) shared that she ordered a Cool Wrap meal and upgraded it to a large. She asked for root beer as her drink, which the drive-thru worker didn't make any comments about, but when it came to the side they said the following:

"Do you wanna keep the fries? You want something healthier right?" they assume.

Now, feeling a bit judged, Rogers sheepishly says, "Nope, fries are good."

"Wait, what'd you want to drink?" the worker rebuttles. "A root beer."

"Woah, who are you?" the person asks in surprise.

"I'm a mom who likes french fries," Rogers replies incredulously. "What kind of question is that?"

The top comment under Roger's video said what everyone was thinking.

"Always order with the app so I don’t hear their judgment," the person wrote.

A few people in the comment section offered some pretty plausible explanations for the worker's surprise:

"Maybe he thought you were a regular customer because I had people's orders memorized and it would throw me off when they changed it up," a commenter said.

"Hahaha as a chick fil a employee I always get surprised when they don’t change the side of fries on the cool wrap meal but I never express it," another said.

"MOST of the time people who order a wrap are trying to be healthy so they also choose a healthy side. There's no judgment. He was just surprised. Congrats on being different!" a person added.

Is Chick-fil-A's Cool Wrap actually healthy?

While people tend to choose the Cool Wrap thinking it's a healthier choice (it's a wrap with lettuce and grilled chicken, sounds healthy enough right?), the nutrition facts tell a more complex story.

  • Classic Chick-fil-A sandwich has 420 calories, 18g of fat, 41g of carbs, and 29 grams of protein.
  • Grilled chicken sandwich has 390 calories, 12g of fat, 44g of carbs, and 28g of protein.
  • Cool Wrap has 660 calories, 45g of fat, 32g of carbs, and 43g of protein.

Depending on the nutrition metrics you care about, the Cool Wrap may not actually be the best option like if you're trying to keep your calories and fat intake low. But if lower carbs and high protein are more important, then it is a better option. It just depends on what you like and care about.

‘Now my 6-year-old has a core memory’: Mom says Chick-fil-A worker body-shamed her 6-year-old, kicked her out of play area  https://www.dailydot.com/news/chick-fil-a-worker-body-shames-6-year-old/ Mon, 08 Jul 2024 18:00:00 +0000 https://www.dailydot.com/?p=1616353 Mom says Chick-fil-A worker body-shamed her 6-year-old, kicked her out of play area

A mother accused a Chick-fil-A manager of berating her 6-year-old daughter for being "too big" and then kicking her off of the kid's play area.

Women face an unrelenting amount of unrealistic body expectations and shaming from society—it's a tale as old as time. While you hope to shield young girls from these woes for as long as possible, there unfortunately comes a day when it happens.

This mama bear says she had to deal with it in a highly unexpected place: the Chick-fil-A she'd been frequenting for years.

In a viral set of videos with a combined 830,000+ views, mom Heather Taylor (@heatherlynne80) explains, while fighting back tears, that her 6-year-old daughter was body-shamed by a Chick-fil-A worker. She says the worker yelled at her for being "too big" to play along with the other kids in the indoor play area.

"If you have an issue, go to an adult. Do not go to a child. She went and talked to my 6-year-old child like she was an adult, telling her that she was too big," Taylor says.

Taylor says she initially thought the woman was referring to her daughter's weight, who's proportionate but big-boned like the other women in her family. Taylor points out that the signage on the play area doesn't specify a weight limit, just a height limit of 54 inches. Taylor's daughter is 54-55 inches. "So it's not like she was overly tall," Taylor says.

After follow-up conversations, Taylor says she gave the woman the benefit of the doubt that "too big" may have been a poor choice of words to mean "too tall." But she pointed out that her older daughter, who's taller and more slender than her 6-year-old, was also in there and didn't get a word directed toward her.

But, no matter what the woman meant, Taylor is adamant that there was no reason for the worker to speak to her daughter directly. She says that it should have handled it with an adult

"We wonder why all these girls have such issues with their image. This is why," she says.

Taylor says she wishes a staff member politely told her that her kids were a bit too big for the play area. She says that they would have just left without causing a scene, still having a good memory of the day and with no "emotional, mental repercussions."

"Because now my 6-year-old has a core memory—a core memory that I cannot take back. I cannot change for her, of being told she's too big at Chick-fil-A," Taylor says recalling her daughter continually asking her, "Mama, why was that lady so mean to me?"

"You are an adult. You should be ashamed of yourself," she says.

@heatherlynne80 Chick-fil-a you handled this so wrong. You should never speak to a 6 year child in that way or tone ever. #chickfila #chickfilahacks #bodyshame #bodyimageissues #mamabear #chickfilahacks #dobetter @Chick-fil-A ♬ original sound - Heather Taylor

In a follow-up video, Taylor says she emailed corporate and claims its response was "sterile" and "insincere." She says she also spoke to the manager from the day of the incident, the district manager, the care team, as well as left reviews on both Google and Facebook.

When she finally got in contact with the franchise owner, she says he insisted the woman was a great person who'd worked for him for more than a decade and had three kids of her own. After reviewing the videotapes, which had no audio, and hearing his employee's side of the story, she says the man kind of shrugged the issue away.

"I'm not going after this lady's job. She just needs to do better," Taylor says. Taylor says she's especially concerned because the woman is a manager and is setting a precedent for her workers to also mistreat and fat-shame customers.

Taylor says that even if he was uncertain about how it all went down (since there was no audio), he should have, at minimum, owned up to the fact that Taylor and her daughter had a bad experience and apologized for that.

Instead, she says he gave no apology, laughed about it, and tried to make small talk with Taylor over the phone.

‘Nah cause the way DoorDash and Uber Eats already make their prices higher’: DoorDash customer tries to buy Chick-fil-A meal. Then she sees the total https://www.dailydot.com/news/doordash-chick-fil-a-meal-21-dollars/ Fri, 05 Jul 2024 18:00:00 +0000 https://www.dailydot.com/?p=1615061 DoorDash customer tries to buy Chick-Fil-A meal

A Chick-fil-A customer was astounded by the total checkout cost of a meal she attempted to purchase via DoorDash. She shared her frustration in a viral TikTok post that's accrued over 807,000 views as of Friday morning.

While some would debate whether a picture is really worth a thousand words, there's a strong argument to be made that Farrah (@user.chickenminis), who uploaded the TikTok, is proving the old adage to be true. That's because her post contains a singular screenshot of a DoorDash Chick-fil-A meal order.

She wanted a Maple Pepper Bacon Sandwich Meal and substituted the drink for a peach milkshake, and the standard-size waffle fries to a large. The grand total, with DoorDash delivery, was $21.47.

The lone image was accompanied by audio of a woman imploring "President Trump" over and over again for help, in what seems like a criticism of the current U.S. government administration.

Surging food prices

In 2021, inflation prices began to skyrocket, culminating in the highest ever rate of inflation growth the United States has ever experienced in 40 years (it all went down in June of 2022.) Throngs of Americans have expressed their fear and anxiety when it comes to shopping at what was traditionally considered "budget" or relatively low-cost supermarkets.

While food inflation has been well documented by the USDA, which states that both grocery store and food-away-from-home prices have shot upward in recent years, the American Institute of Economic Research and others have recorded a peculiar trend when it comes to fast food pricing: It's significantly outpacing the average rate of inflation.

Some consumers, like this dad who spent $53 on a meal for his family of four at Taco Bell, stated that he didn't think there was any way these types of price hikes were normal and chalked it up to corporate greed.

And while inflation can certainly account for the spike in the cost of fast food meals, there are other factors worth considering as well. One, as the irate Taco Bell dad mentioned above could be "corporate greed," but also the fact that ordering through DoorDash also appends a premium charge to food.

DoorDash is no longer budget-friendly

The application states that it doesn't stipulate businesses match the prices of its online menu items to the same as what they charge in-store. Some customers have ordered through the app and noticed that restaurants will often set DoorDash prices a bit higher when compared to the business' native website to place an order.

The Daily Dot covered an instance where a KFC customer slammed both the chain and DoorDash after spending around $70 for a delivered order through the fried chicken chain. Numerous users who replied mentioned that they could've ordered online through KFC's own website and paid much less.

Viewers weigh in

Numerous users who responded to Farrah's video said the "grand total" she was pointing to in her TikTok wasn't even all the charges she was going to pay.

"No one is talking about how that bill will go from 21.47$ to 35$ at the end ???" one said.

This fact seemed to anger another user who wrote, "Nah cause the way DoorDash and Uber eats already make their prices higher yet they still had taxes and a delivery fee."

Others have found compromises when it comes to purchasing ready-made food. One wrote, "I settled for subway today… on the app it was only 14 compared to 24."

But another TikToker seemed to find a simple solution to folks' DoorDash ordering woes— stop using the application altogether: "Seriously I went to order door dash and I just deleted the app and drove to the place instead bc why is it that $$$."

Some couldn't seem to cut that cord, however, like this one person who spent a good amount of money on a pair of sweet treats: "2 cookies from Crumbl was $17 today."

Whereas another wrote, "I bought my bf a small milkshake from chick fil a and it came out to $12."

‘Only at Chick-fil-A would they even notice’: Chick-fil-A worker notices something unusual underneath customer’s car in drive-thru https://www.dailydot.com/news/chick-fil-a-drive-thru-cat-under-car/ Thu, 20 Jun 2024 01:00:00 +0000 https://www.dailydot.com/?p=1603380 Someone looking under a car(l+r), Chick-fil-a(c)

A Chick-fil-A worker noticed something unusual underneath a customer’s car in the drive thru. The worker and the customer were stunned to find that the unusual thing was a cat.

TikTok user @woooooozy was recently at Chick-fil-A when the drive-thru attendant noticed something weird going on under the car. Being extraordinarily helpful, as Chick-fil-A staff have a reputation of being, the worker alerted @woooooozy and took a closer look at the car’s wheel. That’s when she found a cat.

To the tune of “Please Please Please” by Sabrina Carpenter, the video shows the tail end of a black cat lodged behind the wheel of the car. The video’s text overlay reads, “Please please please tell me the chick fil a worker is kidding when she says there’s a cat stuck in my car when I’m in the drive thru.”

The video has amassed 294,000 views as of Wednesday morning. In the caption, @woooooozy writes, “Who does this even happen to.”

In the comments, one user questioned whether this is part of the famous Chick-fil-A hospitality training program. They wrote, “‘It’s my pleasure to get this cat out of your car for you.’” Another user agreed, saying, “Only at Chick-fil-A would they even notice.”

@woooooozy Who does this even happen to 😭😭 #storytime #crazystory #cat #catrescue #fyp #fypp #fypシ゚viral #fyppppppppppppppppppppppp ♬ Please Please Please - Sabrina Carpenter

Someone else answered the question posed in the caption. “This happened to my mom and I.. we now have a cat with no tail living in our house,” they wrote.

Another user asked, “Did the cat get out.” @woooooozy replied, “Yes we had to spray water to losen the cat and then it escaped.”

Maybe someone will find the cat and adopt it. One user wrote, “before we adopted her, a humane society worker found my cat stuck in a car wheel wail. paws burned. adopting her was the best decision. she is the sweetest most grateful cat ever!”

Cats being found on wheels is very common

A Reddit user posted a picture of a kitten in a similar position a couple of years ago. One user wrote, "It's like cats purposefully try to hide in the most dangerous places. Have personally seen a cat get killed because they crawled under the hood of a car." Another said, "he was there to ask about your extended car insurance."

Why do cats go under cars?

Cats typically go under cars during cold weather. “A warm car offers shelter, warmth, and an enclosed space that suits their needs perfectly despite being a big inconvenience for us,” Catser notes. “Cats like to feel enclosed as they feel safer when covered from all angles.”

Cats can get injured or killed if they are in the hood of a car while it’s being driven. That’s why it’s important for drivers to check their cars before starting them in colder temperatures.

‘I now have your meal, and I have my meal’: Woman cuts customer in Chick-fil-A drive-thru line. It backfires https://www.dailydot.com/news/chick-fil-a-drive-thru-cut-karma/ Mon, 17 Jun 2024 15:00:00 +0000 https://www.dailydot.com/?p=1599529 Woman cuts customer in Chick-fil-A drive-thru line

Sometimes karma gets her lick back right away.

In a viral video with more than 286,000 views, low-key comedian Nick (@nickfromohio) shared how one woman's rudeness accidentally got him more Chick-fil-A than he paid for.

Nick was at Chick-fil-A (people's most beloved controversial chicken chain), picking up a breakfast sandwich in the drive-thru, when suddenly he claims he got cut off by a woman named Samantha.

Why is Chick-fil-A's drive-thru so efficient?

Chick-fil-A has arguably one of the most efficient drive-thru experiences in the fast-food game. During peak hours, it can serve more than 100 customers, Chick-fil-A reported.

Multiple factors make its drive-thru one of the most efficient. In an online forum, a former employee explained that, unlike other fast-food spots that may have up to four people working the drive-thru, Chick-fil-A has closer to eight. People take orders, collect payment, bag food, and run orders out, and one person is dedicated solely to making drinks, shakes, and desserts.

If you've been to a Chick-fil-A drive-thru, you've likely seen that in addition to extra staff, there are usually two lines to order from. There are also employees taking and running orders. This all cuts down on wait time. Plus, the menu is pretty simple. So the same items are constantly being cooked and assembled.

Given how efficient the system is, Nick says he didn't see a reason to rush. "The line could be wrapped around the entire neighborhood. You're gonna get through that line in 10 to 15 minutes, max," Nick says.

But the woman, Samantha, who cut him off didn't care. Not only did she cut him off. When Nick says he called her out, she allegedly put up an "L" sign with her index finger and thumb in her rearview window.

"I hope you're having a terrible day," he says about the woman.

Why you shouldn't cut in the Chick-fil-A drive-thru

Because she cut him off their orders got switched and he ended up with her large order. It consisted of two spicy sandwiches, a large fry, and mac and cheese. All she got from his order was a breakfast sandwich, he reveals.

"You left probably unhappy, and I left with extra food," Nick says, adding that he got her big order for free plus his original order because the drive-thru employees felt bad about the situation.

"The universe is universing," a top comment read.

"I had a lady cut me off at the car wash & I got her upgrade wash!!! I promise we will all get our turn," a person recounted.

"The order at the drive thru from Chick Fil A must be respected because it's elite!!!!" another wrote.
