Supporters of former President Donald Trump are patting themselves on the back after claiming that the conspiracy theory tying pop star Taylor Swift to a U.S. military "psyop" and the 2024 election has been proven true.

The celebration began after the media outlet Semafor reported on Sunday that "a pair of well-connected Democrats" have been attempting to pave the way for a "blitz primary" that would see President Joe Biden step down.

A proposal sent by the duo to Democratic donors suggested that after finding the six most popular potential candidates, delegates would vote for who they believe should run for the presidency ahead of the Democratic convention in August.

Yet one part of the proposal caught the attention of conspiracy theorists: Particularly, the suggestion that "cultural icons" such as Oprah Winfrey, former First Lady Michelle Obama, and Swift moderate weekly forums with each candidate to help raise their profile across the country.

https://twitter.com/ArmandDoma/status/1810040127387046028

The reporting was immediately seen by many on the right as vindication of their belief that Swift has been part of a secret government plan to stop Trump.

Far-right influencers who spread the Swift conspiracy theory highlighted Semafor's reporting on Monday.

"And there it is," wrote one.

Others responded by stating that the allegations regarding Swift were just the latest conspiracy theory to be proven true.

Some even went as far as to refer to the proposal as evidence of "election interference."

"More election interference by the Democrats. The reason they want to do this is so that Trump doesn't have a fixed target for his political strategy," another added. "Everything the Democrats do is a scam."

https://twitter.com/algxtradingx/status/1810167871949205960

Some even apologized for not believing it.

"Well I guess all that anger you received even from our own side about Taylor Swift was misplaced. You were right all along," wrote one account to a prominent conspiracy pusher.

But despite their insistence, it only proves conspiracies are what you make of it. For starters, the proposal is just that: a proposal. Although rumors are swirling, Biden thus far has made no public indication that he plans to step down.

And for months, the hoopla around Swift focused on her helping Biden win, not aiding in his downfall. Conspiracy theorists are claiming success on something they never claimed at all.

Swift most likely will be on tour during the so-called blitz primary and it doesn't appear she has been approached to partake.

"Like, Taylor Swift is gonna cancel a global tour to moderate a Democrat blitz primary debate!" noted one person. "Hilarious."

But Swift has been a target of conspiracy theories for some time now, especially following her endorsement of Biden in 2020.

Earlier this year, Fox News host Jesse Watters claimed without evidence that Swift must be working for the Pentagon after she encouraged her fans to vote.

As revealed in February, a poll found that an astonishing 83% of those who believe in the Swift conspiracy are likely to support Trump in the election.

Swift has become such a pariah among conservatives that Trump even received backlash late last month for calling the singer "beautiful."

‘I’m covered under your policy’: Fan says StubHub returned her $1,000 Taylor Swift tickets to the seller without consent. They won’t refund her https://www.dailydot.com/news/stubhub-returned-taylor-swift-tickets/ Wed, 03 Jul 2024 17:00:00 +0000 https://www.dailydot.com/?p=1613739 Woman talking(L+r), Stubhub(c)

This woman flew from New Jersey to Madrid with her friend for a Taylor Swift concert. But just hours before the event, the digital StubHub tickets were nowhere to be found.

"StubHub is an actual joke," Nicole Vitulli (@vitulls) says in a TikTok clip. "I need to tell you guys what happened because they're refusing to refund me, and it's complete bullsh*t."

Vitulli explains that she and her friend decided on a whim to fly to Madrid for 48 hours to see Taylor Swift live. They chose to go overseas because they got a "deal" on the tickets which cost $400 each. Vitulli said that was a great price compared to how much they cost in the United States.

On average, Taylor Swift tickets cost a whopping $1,088, CNBC reported, putting Swift right behind Adele, whose tickets run around $1,243. Compare that to other huge artists like megastar Beyoncé, whose average ticket price is $323, and rap beef loser Drake, whose tickets average around $450.

But, when Vitulli went into her email to accept and download the tickets an hour before the event she got this message:

"Transfer failed. Your tickets have been returned to sender," Vitulli recalled.

The Swiftie remained confused because nowhere in the original email did it state she needed to accept the tickets within a certain time frame or risk them being returned to the sender.

Frustrated and running out of time, Vitulli got on the phone with StubHub.

"We're literally in Europe with no concert tickets," Vitulli says. "You can imagine we're panicking and freaking out."

The StubHub rep said that they reached out to the sender to see if they could resend the tickets. If the person didn't send them, the rep assured Vitulli that they'd be protected under StubHub policy and could get a refund or replacement tickets.

While they tried to get replacement tickets, StubHub had none available, so Vitulli and her friend scoured all the other ticketing sites and found some for $800 each (double what they originally paid).

"We just need to get into the concert," Vitulli reasoned.

@vitulls Stub hub nightmare!!!! Will never use them again. Not even a partial refund, credit or anything at all to make up for an issue that was completely on their end! @StubHub @Brittany Nierman #taylorswift #erastour #stubhubscam #stubhub ♬ original sound - Nicole Vitulli

A StubHub solution gone wrong

The StubHub rep told her to go ahead and get off the phone to buy the other tickets because, no matter what, she'd be protected under their policy and would be eligible for a refund.

Skeptical, Vitulli—who wanted to stay on the phone with the rep until the other tickets were confirmed so she could then ask for her refund right away—kept asking if the rep was sure that's how it worked and that she'd get a refund.

The rep kept assuring her that Vitulli was guaranteed a refund.

They buy the $800 tickets, and lo and behold, 20 minutes before the concert starts the original tickets come through to her phone.

She called StubHub the next day to sort things out, and they told her she couldn't get a refund because the tickets came through "in time for the concert."

"Pull your phone records. This woman told me multiple times that I could get a refund no matter what," Vitulli told StubHub's customer service rep. After multiple calls and emails back and forth, they told her she had to get a lawyer in order to pull the phone records.

"Are you f*cking kidding me?" Vitulli says.

With fees, StubHub owes her nearly $1,000, she adds.

"I will never ever ever use StubHub again," Vitulli says, adding that she filed a dispute with her credit card company but isn't sure that will do anything.

In a follow-up video, Vitulli explained that StubHub ended up reaching out to her after seemingly seeing her video on social media. They apologized for how the situation was being handled and told her that if she closed the dispute with her card, they'd be able to send her the refund.

Now, if Vitulli closes the dispute, she can't reopen it. So she's closing it, trusting that StubHub will keep their word.

"You have it in writing they have no choice now," a commenter wrote.

"Make sure to follow up with them!! This happened to my friend, and they never refunded her. She ended up going to the BBB," another said.

Did StubHub follow through with the refund?

In an email, Vitulli confirmed that she did in fact get her refund.

Now, this isn't the first time StubHub has stressed buyers the heck out. In another video a person shared that they also traveled to another city for an event but his StubHub tickets never arrived and their only solution was to offer him inferior tickets to the front row ones he'd bought.

The Daily Dot reached out to Vitulli and StubHub for comment via email.

‘They are entirely a scam’: Fans can’t believe how much Melanie Martinez is charging for ‘hand-painted’ candles, other merch https://www.dailydot.com/news/melanie-martinez-portals-candles-merch-expensive/ Fri, 28 Jun 2024 02:00:00 +0000 https://www.dailydot.com/?p=1609087 Fans can’t believe how much Melanie Martinez is charging for ‘hand-painted’ candles, other merch

Some fans will go to the ends of the earth for their idols—but spending $75 on a single, four-ounce candle is, for some Melanie Martinez fans, a step too far. To complement her 20023 album Portals, Martinez released a range of scented candles named after songs on the album. However, when consumers got wind of the price, outrage sparked on social media platforms like Reddit and TikTok. "I'm gonna keep it real with y'all about the Portals candles," fan @grecias0fi said. "They are entirely a scam."

In a now-viral video, which has amassed 450,500 views, the TikToker explained why she doesn't think the candles justify the cost. "I get where she was coming from promoting that they were hand-painted and all that good stuff," she said. "But if you literally see that they're just speckled eggs, then I think that completely changes everything because if it was some, like, crazy design, then I kind of get it because it's art. You know, it's something beautiful. It took a lot of time and effort to create that. And, well, I'm not trying to, like, devalue the art in this; they're just speckled."

The TikToker then speculated that the reason the candles are priced so high is because of Martinez's 2019 movie, K-12. According to Variety, the film, which shares its name with one of Martinez's studio albums, cost $5-6 million to make and had a one-night-only release. Box Office Mojo states it amassed only $359,377 at the global box office. "She lost millions," the TikToker said. "Several millions from just having it air one night. I honestly don't know what we're going to see next." The TikToker didn't immediately respond to the Daily Dot's request for comment via TikTok comment.

Meanwhile, fan and creator Lainey (@luvlainey11) compared Martinez to Taylor Swift, asking viewers who they thought the "greediest" celebrity was. "It's fine if you like their music, but we're allowed to call out ridiculous things," she argued. "No, Taylor, the world doesn't need the 24th version of the same album on vinyl … and then the Melanie stuff. Girl, your fan base is mostly children. Why are you selling candles like this big for $100?" Lainey didn't immediately respond to the Daily Dot's request for comment via TikTok comment and Instagram direct message.

How much do these candles cost to make?

Fellow musician and candle creator @marcellagflowers then joined in the discourse by breaking down how much a candle of that size would cost to make.

She says the egg vessels would cost around $20, and an additional $6 in materials would make the candles cost $26 in total to make, which you would then double to account for labor, for a total price of $52. But even that, Marcella added, was "being generous to what the materials cost."

"If [Martinez, rather than her team] was the one pricing things like this, I would feel seriously betrayed," she said. "It just feels like a slap in the face to charge something so small and so easy to make $75."

In an email statement to Daily Dot, Marcella said, "Alot of the defenses for the candles being expensive don't make much sense to me. It's not for a Portals movie (Melanie Martinez has said so herself that is not happening), and if she is truly in debt, that's no excuse to pass the cost onto your fans. I don't understand the choice to make a collectible out of something meant to be used up, when more money could have been made from pricing more affordably and selling long-term to those who burn their first candles and come back to buy more."

@luvlainey11

theres a ton of other celebs that are guilty of this as well. its so tiring cause bro yall are already wealthy enough just stop

♬ original sound - luvlainey

She continued, "Now, we're seeing customers who bought a $75 candle receive them completely melted, ruining the keepsake box as well. It's clear to me that Melanie's team was not at all prepared for what all goes into selling & shipping candles in the hottest record summer in history (so far). Plenty of companies sell candles year round, it's not impossible to sell candles in summer. This whole release was just botched from beginning to end in my opinion."

This isn't the first time Martinez has sparked debate due to the price of her merch. Her Portals perfume collection, released last year, costs $275 for a set of four 15 ml (~0.51 oz) fragrances. Given the size of the perfumes, fans were outraged on Reddit, but if these complaints are anything to go by, the candles might spark more controversy than the perfumes.

‘Mr. President, she’s ugly’: Trump calling Taylor Swift ‘beautiful’ upsets his fans—who think she’s a demon https://www.dailydot.com/debug/donald-trump-taylor-swift-beautiful-creeped-out/ Thu, 27 Jun 2024 18:45:06 +0000 https://www.dailydot.com/?p=1609590 People are freaked out over audio of Trump gushing over Taylor Swift

An audio recording of former President Donald Trump discussing his thoughts on pop star Taylor Swift has the internet majorly creeped out. And is sparking some backlash from his base.

The audio, recorded by Ramin Setoodeh, an award-winning journalist for Variety, went viral this week after being aired on CNN.

After being asked about Swift, Trump went on to repeatedly describe his views on the singer's looks at least five times.

"I think she's beautiful—very beautiful. I find her very beautiful," Trump began. "I think she's liberal. She probably doesn't like Trump. But I hear she's very talented. But I think she's very, I think she's very beautiful, actually—unusually beautiful."

https://twitter.com/joncoopertweets/status/1806350545143185743

Given the decades-worth of accusations and public incidents related to Trump's treatment of women—including his own daughter, who he said he'd date if they weren't related—internet users were more than freaked out at the former president's interest in Swift's appearance.

"When asked about Taylor Swift, Donald Trump used the word ‘beautiful’ FIVE TIMES," one user wrote. "No mention of her talent. No mention of her acumen. No mention of her accomplishments. What a creepy weirdo."

https://twitter.com/TrumpsTaxes/status/1806140498798612833

"This is creepy," another added. "Apparently Trump secretly has the hots for Taylor Swift."

https://twitter.com/rloewe65/status/1806368319563268144

"So cringe," a separate user said. "He's giving me the ick."

https://twitter.com/BradMossEsq/status/1806114965289423148

But while Trump may have a sweet spot for Swift, his fans feel different.

Trump supporters have regularly accused Swift of attempting to sway the upcoming election in favor of President Joe Biden.

A recent video of Swift singing a song with the lyrics "fuck the patriarchy" was seen by some right-wingers as an effort to convince young fans to vote Democrat. Except that version of the song, "All Too Well," is over two years old. Not only that, the concert highlighted in the clip was being performed in the U.K.

Trump supporters have also accused Swift of performing "Satanic rituals" and believe that she is part of a Pentagon psyop aimed at crippling Trump's election chances.

And, in the face of Trump's praise, his most ardent supporters divided themselves.

"She’s not beautiful. She is liberal. She’s also demonic and satanic. And dangerous," wrote one in response to a post praising Trump's political acumen for his comments.

The post ‘Mr. President, she’s ugly’: Trump calling Taylor Swift ‘beautiful’ upsets his fans—who think she’s a demon appeared first on The Daily Dot.

People are freaked out over audio of Trump gushing over Taylor Swift

And dangerous," wrote one in response to a post praising Trump's political acumen for his comments.

https://twitter.com/twilleym/status/1806140510517469436

‘In his Troy Bolton era’: Travis Kelce appears on stage during Taylor Swift’s Eras tour, gets memed https://www.dailydot.com/pop-culture/travis-kelce-appears-at-taylor-swift-concert-memes/ Mon, 24 Jun 2024 17:19:49 +0000 https://www.dailydot.com/?p=1606368 Travis Kelce makes an appearance at the Eras tour, gets memed

Strong couples support each other, as Steve Harvey will tell you. Let’s say you’ve gone to all of your man’s football matches during a given season, pending your own touring schedule. Girl, he better make an appearance at one of your concerts on said tour, especially if he’s in the off-season. Thankfully, Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift are seemingly a strong couple.

On Sunday night, during one of her EIGHT London concerts at Wembley Stadium, Taylor brought out Travis during her introduction to "I Can Do It With A Broken Heart." Kelce came out in a full tux as one of the three costumed performers to “revive” Taylor after she “collapses” before “Broken Heart.” Kelce completes the schtick until Taylor launches into the tune.

Taylor Swift’s 2021 ‘All Too Well’ remake accused of being secret long con to swing 2024 https://www.dailydot.com/debug/taylor-swift-all-too-well-lyric/ Mon, 24 Jun 2024 14:36:55 +0000 https://www.dailydot.com/?p=1606120 Right-wing just now discovering Taylor Swift's 'F*** the patriarchy' lyric

Right-wingers online are just now discovering the lyrics to Taylor Swift's 10-minute version of "All Too Well," and outrage is brewing over her "fuck the patriarchy" line.

"And your mother's tellin' stories 'bout you on the tee-ball team / You taught me 'bout your past, thinkin' your future was me / And you were tossing me the car keys, 'Fuck the patriarchy' / Keychain on the ground, we were always skippin' town," Swift sings in the longer version of the song, which was released in 2021.

Despite the lyric being more than two years old, it appears that conservative critics of Swift are just now discovering it.

On Sunday, right-wingers began sharing a week-old video from a Taylor Swift Eras Tour performance in Liverpool, U.K. highlighting that particular lyric to espouse theories that Swift is teaching her fans to hate men—or that the whole thing is an election psyop.

"Taylor Swift…A multibillionaire…gets an entire audience of mainly kids to scream 'F*ck the Patriarchy,'" remarked Students for Trump co-founder Ryan Fournier. "Grooming an entire generation to hate men."

https://twitter.com/RyanAFournier/status/1804962124755861544

That sentiment was echoed by other men online, who argued the video proves Swift is not a good role model.

"She hates America and is NOT a role model for your daughters!" opined one right-wing commentator.

Commented someone else: "Taylor Swift sings 'F the patriarchy' and gets a bunch of impressionable young women to sing along with her, demonstrating she’s a complete imbecile, knows nothing about how functioning societies are built, and shouldn’t be influencing your children."

"She’s a bad influence on young people," replied another user.

But right-wing commentary around Swift's lyrics extended beyond discussions about its impact on young people in attendance.

One prominent right-wing account that frequently promotes conspiracy theories and is one of the most community-noted accounts on X floated a different take.

"It appears that this is yet another ‘election season’ promotion," the account wrote, referencing the incessant conspiracy theory that Swift is covertly collaborating with President Joe Biden's administration to swing the 2024 presidential election.

"Swift has voter registration booths at all of her concerts which allow for her fans to register to vote," the post continued. "The props and employees heavily influence these people to choose to register as a Democrat."

While Swift has indeed encouraged her fans to register to vote (and herself has previously endorsed Democrats, including Biden in 2020), the suggestion that her saying "fuck the patriarchy" was somehow part of an election psyop was met with a brutal X Community Note.

The community note stated that the line was a lyric from 2021 and that the 10-minute version of "All Too Well" had been included in her tour's setlist since March 2023.

"The above video is from Liverpool, UK," the note concludes. "She is not registering voters in England."

Taylor Swift Singing ‘Touch Me While Your Bros Play Grand Theft Auto’ Struck a Nerve with Millennials https://www.dailydot.com/memes/touch-me-while-your-bros-play-gta/ Fri, 21 Jun 2024 16:28:30 +0000 https://www.dailydot.com/?p=1603763 Taylor Swift over Grand Theft Auto screen

"Touch Me While Your Bros Play GTA" is a lyric turned meme from Taylor Swift's "So High School," a track off of The Tortured Poets Department. The oddly specific reference caught the attention of many of Swift's devoted listeners. For millennials, it certainly hit differently and took them back to a very specific place in time.

Touch Me While Your Bros Play Grand Theft Auto meaning

Taylor Swift "So High School" lyrics
@skinfest/TikTok

The lyric from Taylor Swift's 11th studio album stuck out to listeners from the first time they heard the track, which was released on April 19, 2024. The album's double version included these lyrics:

Truth, dare, spin bottles
You know how to ball, I know Aristotle
Brand new, full throttle
Touch me while your bros play Grand Theft Auto

Taylor Swift's "So High School"

The lyrics paint the picture of a high school hangout where people play videos, spin the bottle, and make out. This scene is particular to Swift's own high school era when the Grand Theft Auto games were particularly popular. Fans have debated whether it's a clever fit for the song or too cringy for words.

The track is alleged to be about Swift's relationship with NFL star Travis Kelce. Fans of each who have admired their pairing have noted they have a very adolescent-like giddiness about them when they're together.

Kelce is also known for having a very youthful, goofy sense of humor. He's the exact kind of bro who would stand out in high school—and the exact kind of guy you'd expect to see playing GTA circa 2006.

‘You wouldn’t last an hour in the asylum where they raised me’: Swifties have taken over TikTok https://www.dailydot.com/pop-culture/you-wouldnt-last-an-hour-in-the-asylum-where-they-raised-me/ Wed, 19 Jun 2024 16:43:50 +0000 https://www.dailydot.com/?p=1599190 Taylor Swift singing into mic with abstract background

No matter how you look at it, Taylor Swift's The Tortured Poets Department is one hell of an album. The singer's position at the epicenter of pop culture is unmatched, and the latest Swift-inspired TikTok sound is one for the chronically online girlies.

Now, she's seized the platform in a way even she hasn't before.

The sound

As Swift sings that "You wouldn't last an hour in the asylum where they raised me," TikTokers are using the platform to share their own personal, figurative "asylums." These are tongue-in-cheek references to a particular time or era (pun intended) of your life that was especially formative.

As numerous well-known creators hop on the trend, there's a lot of metaphorical "asylums" knocking around. These range from Trisha Paytas' kitchen floor, to the Abby Lee's Dance Company dance school.

"Asylums" don't always have to be places either, as the meme also applies to certain media or entertainment you consumed as a child that effectively "raised" you, such as Bart Baker's music video parodies. The nicher, the better.

Where's it from?

These lyrics are from the 2024 song "Who's Afraid Of Little Old Me." It's from Taylor Swift's new album, The Tortured Poets' Department. In a commentary with Amazon Music, Swift discussed the origins of this "bitter" track.

"I felt bitter about just all the things we do to our artists as a society and as a culture," she said. "There’s a lot about this particular concept on The Tortured Poets Department."

She continued: "What do we do to our writers, and our artists, and our creatives? We put them through hell. We watch what they create, then we judge it. We love to watch artists in pain, often to the point where I think sometimes as a society we provoke that pain and we just watch what happens.”

Sound off

The funny thing about this meme is that it didn't start on TikTok. X user @leylanocontext was the first one to use the song as a meme template on April 19, posting the lyrics on X and accompanying it with a picture of McKinley High's choir room from Glee.

From there, users shared their own personal "asylums" and the rest is history. As the meme continues to makes an impact on multiple platforms, the truth is this: Who else would be able to manage that but Taylor Swift?

The funny thing about this meme is that it didn't start on TikTok. X user @leylanocontext was the first one to use the song as a meme template on April 19, posting the lyrics on X and accompanying it with a picture of McKinley High's choir room from Glee.

From there, users shared their own personal "asylums" and the rest is history. As the meme continues to makes an impact on multiple platforms, the truth is this: Who else would be able to manage that but Taylor Swift?

“You said normal girls were boring” but then…it was a meme https://www.dailydot.com/memes/you-said-normal-girls-were-boring-meme/ Mon, 10 Jun 2024 19:40:23 +0000 https://www.dailydot.com/?p=1595387 you said normal girls were boring meme

"You said normal girls were boring" is a line from the Taylor Swift song "The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived" that went viral as a meme soon after its release. The song is track 14 on Swift's latest album The Tortured Poets Department and seems to express the singer's disappointment with an ex-boyfriend.

Of all the lines that stood out, "you said normal girls were boring" was enough to inspire a meme that spread across the Swiftie fandom and beyond.

You said normal girls were boring
But you were gone by the morning
You kicked out the stage lights, but you're still performing

What is the "you said normal girls were boring" meme?

Not long after the Tortured Poets Department album was released on April 19, 2024, fans started taking this particular line from the song "The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived" and changing what followed to describe why someone they were dating might be gone in the morning.

These explanations for why someone might dump them typically involve some kind of deep interest or obsession with a form of media such as a TV show, a celebrity, or Taylor Swift herself. Others expanded the meme to talk about personal issues they might have that make dating difficult, such as chronic illness.

"You said normal girls were boring" meme origins

Taylor Swift is well known for penning devastating breakup songs, and "The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived" is no exception. In June 2016, the hashtag #IDumpedTaylorSwiftBecause spread on Twitter following her breakup with DJ Calvin Harris due to her storied reputation of going through unsuccessful relationships.

The line from "The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived" isn't even the only song that has inspired a recent Swift-themed meme. The statement "you wouldn't last an hour in the asylum where they raised me" from the track "Who's Afraid of Little Old Me?" took off first, likely because of the sheer drama of it all.

Swifties enjoyed the line "you said normal girls were boring, but you were gone by the morning" so much that they started by posting the lyrics on social media alongside images or footage of people screaming, sobbing, smashing things with blunt instruments, and other highly dramatic and emotional acts.

The actual meme derived from this part of the song didn't emerge until the very end of May. Twitter user @jegulusmoony posted one of the first popular examples on May 28, writing "'you said normal girls were boring' but this is literally me when character ai is down" with a gif compilation of people freaking out and crying.

Who is "The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived"?

After the new album's release in April, Swifies wasted no time in speculating who this very tiny man might be.

While Swift did not name the culprit in the song directly, most have come to a consensus that he is none other than the singer-songwriter, record producer, and lead vocalist of The 1975 Matty Healy. Healy and Swift dated from April to June in 2023, a period which includes the early summer, and the chorus from the song in question goes like this:

And I don't even want you back, I just want to know
If rusting my sparkling summer was the goal

There appear to be other clues in the song that Healy is the target of Swift's ire, including a reference to a "Jehovah’s Witness suit," which is so Healy's style.

‘Can we all agree that it’s invasive and irresponsible?’: Taylor Swift comes to Lady Gaga’s defense after she was body-shamed on TikTok https://www.dailydot.com/pop-culture/taylor-swift-defends-gaga-on-tiktok/ Wed, 05 Jun 2024 19:05:21 +0000 https://www.dailydot.com/?p=1592600 Taylor Swift and Lady gaga over graphic background

This week, Lady Gaga attended her sister’s wedding with her long-term boyfriend Michael Polansky.

The 13-time Grammy winner had two looks — a cream-colored bridesmaid gown and a shorter black dress. She looked stunning in both.

Of course, the paparazzi couldn’t just let Gaga attend her sister’s wedding in peace. Nope. They snapped photos of the singer, which eventually made the rounds on TikTok. There were dozens of videos discussing the photos with people speculating and commenting on her body – which, like, haven’t people learned by now is not ok?!

Some said “Congratulations!” One said, “Awww a baby bump.” Another person even wrote, “Awwww!! A little Monster!! So happy for them!!”

The discourse seemingly reached Gaga, who took to TikTok to respond. On Tuesday, She posted this TikTok – now with over 2 million views – and addressed the pregnancy rumors using Taylor Swift lyrics. "Not pregnant - just down bad cryin at the gym."

For those of you who don’t know, this line is from Taylor’s song “Down Bad,” off her newest album The Tortured Poets Department.

Gaga also added, “Register to vote at www.headcount.org.” I love an icon who uses her platform to promote voter registration — especially knowing the news coverage she’ll garner from this moment.

On Wednesday morning, the legend Taylor Swift herself commented on Gaga’s post.

“Can we all agree that it’s invasive and irresponsible to comment on a woman’s body?” Taylor said.

via TikTok

“Gaga doesn’t owe anyone an explanation, and neither does any woman 💋,” she added

Exactly. People on TikTok praised Taylor for defending Gaga. “You spilled🙏🏻,” one person wrote. “This is why we love you so freaking much THANK YOU.”

Another person said, “Exactly! I’m sorry you even have to say this in the first place.”

Taylor is no stranger to people body-shaming her. In 2015, comedian Nikki Glaser said, “She’s too skinny; it bothers me. All of her model friends — and it’s just like, c’mon." Nikki later apologized and Taylor forgave her. There are other examples, but the comments are gross, sexist, and don’t deserve to be highlighted.

This is also isn’t the first time Taylor and Gaga have shown public support for each other.

When a clip of Taylor discussing her battle with disordered eating went viral on TikTok, Gaga hopped in the comments and wrote, “That’s really brave everything you said 🖤 wow.”

In a 2014 interview with Howard Stern, Gaga also praised Taylor for her genuineness:

“We’ve met a few times, and I can’t say anything bad about her. What she doesn’t know [is] I was at the AMAs or something. Her and I were sitting next to each other and she goes, ‘Oh my God! I love ARTPOP. I love ‘Applause,’ and ‘Applause' is my favorite song. I was thinking, ‘Yeah, yeah, yeah. This chick is full of shit. But then my buddy called me, Brandon, who’s my stylist, and she was doing a shoot and he was styling her. He goes, ‘Taylor Swift is in here blasting ARTPOP so loud, and she is dancing and she’s posing.’ I thought to myself, ‘I like this girl.’ You know why? Because she said the same thing to my face that she said behind my back. Yeah, I like her.”

It’s so nice that these two continue to support each other. The only thing to do now is to collaborate. Please.
