A conspiracy theory that claims President Joe Biden is now tall after mysteriously growing several inches is slowly becoming the latest hot meme.

The tall Biden conspiracy theory

Last week, far-right conspiracy theorists cited a video of Biden outside the White House as proof that he had grown inexplicably. The theory alleges that Biden, who recently announced his plans to withdraw from the presidential election, has been replaced by a clone, given that he appears much taller than normal standing next to his wife Jill.

"Biden grew a few inches while he was missing for five days..." one user wrote.

https://twitter.com/amuse/status/1816427307424194609

The conspiracy theory comes not long after far-right figures claimed that Biden was either on death's door or outright deceased. Yet with that theory easily debunked given the president's public appearances, conservatives latched onto the Biden clone claim instead.

While Biden does look taller than his wife in the above video, the difference is attributable to the low angle of the camera as well as Jill Biden's walking a short distance behind him.

But at least some right-wing users appear to be taking the claim less seriously and have instead begun sharing memes.

Tall Biden Memes

In one example this week, a video altered by a group known as the "Dilley Meme Team" depicts Biden as even taller than before.

"Is it just me, or is Joe getting taller? Is that even Joe?" one of the meme's creators asked.

https://twitter.com/drefanzor/status/1817637481816486169

They followed up the post with an even more exaggerated Biden, who overshadowed Marine One on the White House lawn.

In that clip, Biden walks next to Jill and his son Hunter, causing the camera to shake with each step. They also add sound effects to each step.

https://twitter.com/bmattgold/status/1817680114370425228

The Daily Dot reached out to Brenden Dilley, a podcast host who runs the team that created the video, to inquire about the post. Dilley responded with a screenshot of the Daily Dot's previous coverage of the meme team alongside the statement: "You're welcome to blow me first."

In another post, Biden is towering over the nation's Capitol building.

A caption on the picture states: "At this rate of growth Biden will soon be unstoppable."

https://twitter.com/anarcho_cat/status/1817745960350499188

Trump's 18-year-old son Barron, who is a staggering 6'9, also found himself in the mix.

"I await their titanic duel," another said in a manipulated image.

https://twitter.com/Hispanxgroyper/status/1817722094723232035

Other posts referred to Biden as "Joeliath" and "Giant Joe," while some argued that his nickname should be changed from Dark Brandon to Tall Brandon.

"To all video editors... Now I crave a thread of Giant Joe memes," one user said.

https://twitter.com/NootNootFrog/status/1817657385609310370

The conspiracy is bigger than the meme

Although the memes were quite apparent to conservatives, they still dwarfed the conspiracy theory that alleged Biden had really replaced by a much taller body double.

"Joe Biden has never been 6’ 4 tall like the ‘body double’ towering over Jill and White House aides," another added. "And he’s never in his life moved as well as this other ‘body double’ caught on the way to his car."

https://twitter.com/bud_cann/status/1816980568720179247

Prominent Trump supporter Bill Mitchell also hyped the claims, posting in image he claimed of Biden in 2022 and 2024.

https://twitter.com/mitchellvii/status/1817890879249518833

While the conspiracy theory remains prominent among mainline supporters of former President Donald Trump, the tall Biden memes appear here to stay.

At least until he leaves office next year.

Incels are upset that Joker has a girlfriend https://www.dailydot.com/debug/deplatformed-joker-incels/ Fri, 26 Jul 2024 11:00:00 +0000 https://www.dailydot.com/?p=1631898 joaquin phoenix and lady gaga in the joker 2

1) Joker abandons incels

When Todd Phillips’ Joker came out in 2019, it spurred a rash of spurious discourse that a sympathetic portrayal of a mentally ill white man prone to anger would inspire hordes of maladjusted men to commit wanton acts of violence.

Digital pundits worried incels—a 2014-era internet phenomenon tied to one spree killing that metastasized alongside the moral panic over young men online flocking to former President Donald Trump—would be unleashed on the population.

But the movie did not inspire involuntary celibate posters, the ones who desperately want to have sex with a woman but can’t, to commit crimes. That’s probably because the panic was predicated not on the movie itself but pearl-clutching online over the trailer.

The Joker 2 trailer dropped this week and there’s one thing we can be thankful for—it won’t inspire a spate of takes about incels becoming Joker-fied. Because in Joker 2, Joker has a girlfriend.

Lady Gaga stars alongside Joaquin Phoenix’s Arthur Fleck in what everyone assumes is a Harley Quinn role, as the trailer shows them falling in love over petty crime and ballroom dancing.

And while one might hope incels seeing an incel escape could inspire them, the doomer nature of the movement bled through on forums reacting to the trailer.

Some thought it was a direct rebuttal to the community’s love of the first.

“It's like they did this specifically because they accidentally made incel kino last time,“ one person said.

Kino is slang for top-notch cinema, and Joker 2, in their eyes, was not it.

“Betrayed bc he has a lady,” said one.

“h..he's not... an incel like me?” wrote another.

But worse, Arthur might be, instead of a monster, a … beta boyfriend.

“If it was anything like the first one, he will kill her in the end … But that won't happen.”

Instead, they feared, he’ll just mopily follow around Lady Gaga as the film apes its most iconic moments in service of Lady Jokers.

“They will just make her do everything Arthur did in the first movie, because yas slay female joker, and he will just somewhat be there, but he won't be important,” wrote one person.

Others called out shots that explicitly mimicked the first movie, only with Gaga included in them, like Phoenix’s infamous stair dance.

And plenty were bothered by what most everyone is assuming—that, in casting Gaga, the sequel will be a campy musical.

“first movie was kino but this looks fucking horrible ngl, also annoying how theyre pretty much not telling us whether or not its an actual musical until we actually go to watch it,” one person wrote.

In the parlance of modern times, Joker 2 is as thrilling as Biden’s reelection bid.

It’s “actually joever anons i am going to cry it looks so fucking bad. unless they take the unconventional approach that she doesnt actually love him and is actually projecting her craziness onto him its going to suck so fucking bad.”

While you may be tempted to feel sorry for the incels, their one love falling for someone else, at least we won’t have to listen to months of discourse now

2) Joe Biden Fanfic Cope

While massive amounts of Democrats seem to be rallying around Vice President Kamala Harris after President Joe Biden announced he’d no longer seek re-election, some of the most ride-or-die Bides, who fought furiously until the end, were upset that their adamant attitude had been entirely for naught.

So they’ve turned to the most tried and true internet coping mechanism: Cope.

What if, read a mega-viral thread on Threads, Biden didn’t drop out because he needed to, or couldn’t go on, but because he’d been planning to all along? Powering through the Democratic primary, fumbling the debate, going on a sputtering redemption arc while vehemently denying calls for him to step aside…

All part of the plan, according to the thread.

“Turns out the 81-year-old man everyone said was losing it, expertly outmaneuvered every coup plotter against him in under 24 hours … This was all teed up and executed by President Joe Biden with the perfection only wisdom and experience can deliver,” wrote the thread, which got over 10,000 reactions as it detailed an elaborate plan wherein Biden slow played his departure to trick the GOP.

“Biden dropped out after allowing Trump and his minions to spend four days and millions of dollars going on live TV…. mounting a campaign against him. He screwed Trump and Republicans with perfection. Completely changed the landscape in a way no one saw coming and nobody was prepared for.”

His timing of announcement and endorsement of Harris was also dubbed a masterstroke, supposedly catching the media off guard while thwarting other Democrats who sought an open primary.

There was plenty of fan fic involved, with Biden secretly making calls to ensure this masterstroke.

“Biden made the necessary calls on background to make sure the turnover was seamless and he got it done. He trusted Kamala Harris and Kamala Harris trusted him, they had each other's backs. He made the campaign a turnkey operation for her. That was no small accomplishment.”

Others along for the ride posted that Biden intentionally sank the debate, setting the stage for his own removal.

“Biden placed the Republicans like a fiddle. Watching that debate, I was astounded. We have seen Biden debate thousands of time,” one said, claiming he chose to avoid a contentious primary by staying in and ensuring with little time until the election, Democrats would rally around him.

“Can you imagine learning in a future Biden biography that he intentionally tanked his debate performance, and he was every anonymous leak about him thinking about resigning? All of it being setup for him to be able to retire and hand the next Presidency to Kamala Harris,” wrote one.

“Maybe Dark Brandon just might have pulled off the greatest rope-a-dope of all time,” added another.

Call it a cope a dope

The ‘I’m With Her’ meme is back https://www.dailydot.com/memes/im-with-her-meme/ Tue, 23 Jul 2024 18:49:48 +0000 https://www.dailydot.com/?p=1629438 Im with her logo and text

"I'm With Her" is a political slogan adopted by the 2016 Hillary Clinton presidential campaign that transformed into an enduring meme. The original slogan made use of the 'H' in 'Hillary' with the arrow pointing to the right or "forward" in place of the horizontal line in the letter and adorned many bumper stickers and t-shirts during the 2016 election year.

Additionally, the slogan was appropriated by jokesters on social media to declare their support for other women as a meme, from celebrities to anthropomorphized characters designed to appear female.

I'm with her meme showing an anthropomorphized taco smiling

With Vice President Kamala Harris in position to become the second-ever presidential nominee for either party in the U.S. in 2024, the phrase is making a comeback.

"I'm With Her" meme origins

The slogan and iconic design of the campaign merchandise was created by graphic designer Ida Woldemichael in 2015. She was working for the Clinton campaign and submitted her design to a bumper sticker contest among the staff meant to drum up ideas for slogans and iconography that would speak to supporters.

According to Woldemichael, "I'm with her" made perfect sense for a campaign fueled by excitement about the idea of America's first female president.

"I started with some obvious stuff, ‘Honk for Hillary,’ some fun uses of the ‘H’ [Michael Bierut’s Hillary logo], but then when Jennifer and I looked at the sketches, ‘I’m With Her’ really stood out from the set," she told Fast Company. "It was so simple, yet so unmistakable, since there was only one ‘her’ in the race."

"I'm With Her" memes take off

Within a couple of months, people were chanting the phrase at campaign events and the hashtag was taking off on social media platforms. Clinton posted a photo of herself with Katy Perry under the tag on October 24, 2015, using the singer's popularity to help spread the slogan.

As time went on, more individuals, celebrities, and political figures announced their support for Clinton using the phrase "I'm with her" or the corresponding hashtag. On June 9, 2016, former President Barack Obama officially endorsed her in a video, speaking the slogan aloud.

In February of 2016, as liberals and leftists were forming a clear split between Clinton and fellow presidential candidate Bernie Sanders, a Reddit user came up with the hashtag #ImWithJew, referencing Sanders' Jewish heritage. It's unclear whether this user was a Sanders supporter or just a troll.

Later that year, when it became obvious that Clinton was going to defeat her Democratic rival in the primaries and secure the nomination, Sanders fans begrudgingly accepted her as the candidate they would support against Donald Trump. On June 8, in a now-deleted tweet, Twitter user @MadBlackThot posted the first known usage of the hashtag "GirlIGuessImWithHer."

July 2024 "I'm with her" meme resurgence

On July 21, 2024, President Joe Biden announced on Twitter that he was dropping out of the presidential race against Trump following recommendations by many high-level Democrats. The presumption of nomination quickly fell upon Harris, being his Vice President, and energy around the idea of a woman for President was reborn.

On that same day, actor Ken Jeong posted a photo of himself posing with Harris with the slogan and three heart emojis in red, white, and blue.

https://twitter.com/kenjeong/status/1815218284608078010

Despite this surge of support, polling on Harris shows that she is neck-and-neck with Trump on approval and potential votes in November. FiveThirtyEight polls show her with a lower disapproval rating at 51 percent to Trump's 53 percent, but also a slightly lower approval rating.

Polls of likely voters show Harris lagging behind Trump most of the time, but very often not outside of the margin of error. She also appears to be doing better than Biden was in this respect, with the Washington Post analysis measuring her at 1.5 points behind the Republican nominee to Biden's 1.9 points.

'I was one of the 44,000'

A related meme emerging from the sudden Kamala Harris campaign references a Zoom call attended by 44,000 people and hosted by the political group Win With Black Women on the night of July 21. According to reports, the attendees raised over $1.5 million for Harris in just three hours.

The moment was so powerful, particularly for Black women, that the phrase "I was one of the 44,000" took off on social media and can be seen on campaign images for Harris already, as well as in joke tweets.

Google searches for ‘Is Biden dead?’ spike as furious rumors percolate https://www.dailydot.com/debug/is-joe-biden-dead-google-search-conspiracy-theory/ Tue, 23 Jul 2024 14:31:16 +0000 https://www.dailydot.com/?p=1629140 Joe Biden over google

Google searches asking whether President Joe Biden is dead are surging this week after his decision to bow out of the 2024 presidential race.

The searches, which began seeing a noticeable increase on Monday, coincide with an explosion of conspiracy theories regarding Biden's health.

Prior to revealing that he would no longer be running for a second term on Sunday, an announcement which spurred conspiracy theories as well, Biden admitted to catching COVID-19 on Wednesday of last week.

Is Joe Biden dead?

White House Physician Kevin O'Connor said on Monday that Biden was recovering and still performing his official duties. But a lack of any public appearances in six days allowed rumors to fester.

Far-right conspiracy theorist Laura Loomer, for example, is claiming that Biden is actually on his deathbed and may only have days to live.

"Biden has been dying, and he is dying rather quickly," Loomer says.

https://twitter.com/LauraLoomer/status/1815567310675214503

Loomer's unfounded theory stems from her previous claim on July 5 that Biden suffered a "medical emergency" while aboard Air Force One that the White House covered up.

Conservative commentator Charlie Kirk is pushing a similar claim that Biden suffered a catastrophic medical problem on July 17 that resulted in him canceling a speech in Las Vegas. Kirk alleges that the White House used the COVID diagnosis to cover up the unknown medical emergency.

https://twitter.com/charliekirk11/status/1815415066508071418

Biden, posters in the Kirk and Loomer orbit claim, may have suffered a stroke-like event, necessitating his withdrawal from the 2024 race, which he long refused to leave.

It's not just prominent conspiracy theorists pushing such claims. Former Republican Representative Madison Cawthorn also suggested on X that Biden is likely dead.

"Anyone else think Biden is dead?" asked Cawthorn.

https://twitter.com/CawthornforNC/status/1815467239895962015

The rumor led conspiracy theorists to latch onto every possible clue that they think gives credence to their belief.

Another user shared a picture of a flag at half-mast outside of the Capitol, insinuating Biden was secretly dead.

"BREAKING: The fence is going back up at the Capitol and the flag has been lowered," the user wrote. "What is happening??"

https://twitter.com/IanJaeger29/status/1815516636046147872

I Community Note points out that the flag is at half-mast for the death of Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas). Not only that, the image used in the post is actually from 2021.

Even though Biden made a phone call on Monday to Vice President Kamala Harris, who he has endorsed, conservatives are changing the narrative.

Right-wing commentator Benny Johnson on Tuesday shared a clip of Harris speaking with Biden at her new campaign headquarters. Johnson and his followers think Harris nearly admitted that the call was a "recording," while others believe Biden's voice was produced by artificial intelligence (AI). The claim is unsurprising since many online claimed an interview Biden gave to MSNBC earlier this month was AI.

https://twitter.com/bennyjohnson/status/1815531152804901270

Aside from the search spikes on Google, social media platforms are seeing indications of the conspiracy theory, too.

Hashtags on X such as #ProofOfLife demand that Biden reveal himself to the public. Another trending topic on X simply asks, "Where's Joe."

While conspiracy theories have been the norm for America in recent years, misinformation has seemingly hit an all-time high following the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump.

Biden will reportedly return to the White House today.

Biden-Harris dropout memes mark the legacy of 2020s political humor https://www.dailydot.com/memes/biden-harris-dropout-memes/ Mon, 22 Jul 2024 20:13:10 +0000 https://www.dailydot.com/?p=1628579 biden harris dropout memes

Biden Harris dropout memes are any gags related to the decline of Joe Biden’s 2024 campaign leading to his eventual replacement by Kamala Harris. President Joe Biden’s re-election run suffered from questions and speculation about his age and related mental fitness that culminated in his decision to drop out of the race on July 21, 2024.

At the same time, memes related to Vice President Kamala Harris increased her popularity and helped prime her to become the presumptive Democratic nominee in Biden’s place. Following Biden's decision to step aside, these joke genres as well as some from the past are being mixed and made to reference each other in a meme mishmash.

It’s Joever

The phrase “It’s Joever, We’re So Barack” uses the first names of Biden and former President Barack Obama to reference Biden’s struggling poll numbers and the hope of some that his association with his younger counterpart would help him rebound. Each part is a play on the expressions “it’s over” and “we’re so back.”

The meme first appeared during Biden’s original presidential run in 2020 and reappeared in 2024 following his painful debate performance against rival Donald Trump. Its resurgence helped pave the way for Biden Harris dropout memes.

Coconut tree memes, the context of all in which you live and what came before you, and what can be, unburdened by what has been

Kamala Harris, once dogged by her reputation as a “tough on crime” prosecutor and California Attorney General, began to gain popularity as Vice President thanks to her sometimes lofty speech. Quotes and references from her speech became memes, especially the one in which she told a story about something her mother used to say.

“My mother used to—she would give us a hard time sometimes, and she would say to us, ‘I don’t know what’s wrong with you young people. You think you just fell out of a coconut tree?’” she said in 2023. “You exist in the context of all in which you live and what came before you.”

Soon enough, the coconut tree and the coconut itself became symbols for Harris. In July 2024, fans began to use coconut emojis in their social media handles to signal their support for her, especially after Biden dropped out of the presidential race.

Kamala Harris cop meme

Memes depicting Harris as a police officer from 2019 saw a resurgence in 2024 after she took Biden’s place as the Democratic presidential candidate, becoming a key part of the Biden Harris dropout memes genre.

Although many leftists are still critical of Harris for calling herself a “top cop” to promote her 2020 campaign, the context of the times may have turned that reputation from a liability to an asset. Harris fans are promoting and encouraging these “Kopmala” memes to contrast her with Donald Trump of the 34 felony convictions.

Biden dropout letter meme

On July 21, 2024, President Joe Biden posted an official letter to the American public announcing that he was dropping out of his re-election campaign. He did not name a specific reason for this decision, but he did name Harris in the letter, thanking her for her help as his vice president.

Naturally, social media users took the letter and Photoshopped it to say any funny thing they wanted to, as is common when an important public figure offers up anything that can be used as a blank slate.

https://twitter.com/rajat_suresh/status/1815086526792937577

We did it Joe

Returning once again to 2020, no matter how much you might not want to, the “we did it, Joe” meme shows a screenshot of a video Harris posted to her Twitter account calling Biden to happily remind him of his victory against Trump.

The shot became an exploitable image used to make fun of the Biden administration for both failures and unpopular policy decisions. It was also subject to lip-sync parodies in many TikTok videos from late 2020 and beyond.

Joe Biden “I’m sick” meme

On July 17, 2024, Biden confirmed his reported COVID-19 diagnosis by sending out a misleading tweet reading “I’m sick,” which was immediately followed by “of Elon Musk and his rich buddies trying to buy this election” plus an invitation for supporters to donate to his campaign.

Similarly to the dropout letter meme, Twitter users began taking these tweets and Photoshopping the second one to make funnier statements. Alternatively, it was quote-tweeted with “me when” statements or fake images of Biden doing something cool. Coming so close to the announcement that Biden would end his 2024 campaign, this gag fits easily into the category of Biden Harris dropout memes.

Kamala picking a running mate

Once it was formally announced that Harris would be the Democratic pick as Biden's replacement, people began to wonder who would become her running mate. Because Harris is biracial, being both Black and Indian and not white at all, many speculated that she would attempt to appeal to white folks by picking a vice president they could relate to, much like Obama did in 2016.

This led to a meme in which social media users would post photos of white wine selections or menus, or that one image of the guy saying "this is a white," with captions reading something close to "Kamala picking a running mate."

Kamala Harris cop meme: 2024 edition https://www.dailydot.com/memes/kamala-harris-cop-mem/ Mon, 22 Jul 2024 17:53:17 +0000 https://www.dailydot.com/?p=1628421 kamala harris drops out kopmala meme

The Kamala Harris cop meme has returned from the days of the 2020 election following President Joe Biden's decision to bow out of the 2024 race. Starting in 2019, the building criticisms against Harris as a presidential candidate coming from the left based on her history as a prosecutor, district attorney, and state attorney general became a meme that some suspect played a role in the early suspension of her campaign.

Now that the Vice President is a candidate once again and the presumptive Democratic nominee, this meme is seeing a resurgence.

What is the Kamala Harris cop meme?

This trend, also known as the Kopmala meme, mocks Harris for her history of prosecuting people and even calling herself a "top cop" while also attempting to position herself as a voice for the Black community. This poses a problem after the Black Lives Matter uprisings of the 2010s and 2020 which included massive protests against police racism and brutality.

Many of the gags in this meme genre show Harris Photoshopped in a police uniform (she never served as a police officer) representing her self-imposed reputation as the "top cop." It's also common to see her mixed with other meme formats referencing her professional history.

In 2024, when the backlash against anti-police movements has swung the political pendulum back toward "law and order" frenzy, the memes have taken on a new mood. Harris fans, as well as those desperate to stop Donald Trump from becoming president again, are using the same images to promote her campaign.

These memes are often put alongside Trump's mug shot or other references to his arrest and conviction on 34 felony counts back in June.

Kamala Harris cop meme origins

Harris graduated with a Juris Doctor from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law in 1989. The next year, after she passed the bar exam, she was hired as deputy district attorney in Alameda County, California. She became the District Attorney of San Francisco in 2004 and served until 2011 when she became the Attorney General of California.

In 2016, Harris was running for a U.S. Senate seat alongside former President Barack Obama's campaign. Relying on the pervasive popularity of "law and order" and "tough on crime" messages among moderates and the right, she intentionally pushed the image of herself as someone who would tackle issues related to crime in the traditional American manner.

On May 25 of that year, the New York Times published an article titled "Kamala Harris, a ‘Top Cop’ in the Era of Black Lives Matter." The aspiring senator adopted this label for herself and used it frequently during her presidential campaign in 2019. At the same time, she gained a reputation for laughing too hard at inappropriate moments.

Rise of the Kopmala meme and 2020 campaign suspension

Many leftists and progressives were not keen on Harris' image as a cop and began to trash her history as a prosecutor, claiming that she aggressively prosecuted Black men for cannabis-related offensives, put more people in jail during her truancy crackdown, resisted allowing trans prisoners to access gender-affirming care, and imprisoned people under strict "three strikes" laws.

Her Attorney General's office was accused of keeping inmates locked up longer to exploit their barely paid labor.

On July 3, 2019, the Facebook account The Meme-Industrial Complex posted a Photoshopped image of Harris in a police uniform arresting a little Black girl while laughing in front of a "thin blue line" flag.

Harris fans disputed some of these charges in 2019 and again in 2014. In 2019, however, she dropped out of the presidential race in December amid speculation that the Kamala Harris cop memes drove her to this decision.

kamala harris drops out kopmala meme

Fake forensic ‘experts’ think they can prove Biden didn’t sign his dropout letter https://www.dailydot.com/debug/biden-fake-dropout-signature-letter-conspiracy-theory/ Mon, 22 Jul 2024 16:26:36 +0000 https://www.dailydot.com/?p=1628274 Of course conspiracy theorists think Biden's resignation letter is fake

Conspiracy theorists believe the letter from President Joe Biden announcing his decision to withdraw from the 2024 presidential race is an elaborate fake.

Biden shared the letter to social media on Sunday, causing right-wing internet users to make unsubstantiated claims that it was proof of an internal coup against the current president.

https://twitter.com/JoeBiden/status/1815080881981190320

Far-right conspiracy theorist Laura Loomer argued that Biden was not at all involved with the letter and was instead being pushed out of the race against his will.

"Did you notice the Biden drop out letter isn't on official letterhead?" Loomer said.

Loomer also thinks Biden was "too cognitively damaged to write a letter or comprehend what is going on" and that his signature was likely "forged" as well.

https://twitter.com/LauraLoomer/status/1815217607932326297

The letterhead claim was echoed by others.

"Even Nixon’s resignation letter had the Presidential seal on it. Why doesn’t Biden’s?" wrote Mike Crispi.

https://twitter.com/MikeCrispiNJ/status/1815226982415638550

Others compared Biden's signature on the letter to his signature on other official documents to prove that the president hadn't been involved in the decision to step down.

Screenshots showing the letter's signature next to Executive Orders signed by Biden were spread by several far-right accounts.

https://twitter.com/ChiefTrumpster/status/1815204611487072474

The topic, unsurprisingly, is also prevalent on the far-right blog the Gateway Pundit, which questioned why the decision did not come in the form of "a press conference or an official White House press release."

The blog cites conspiracy theorists such as Dr. Naomi Wolf, who similarly felt that the signature on the letter was likely forged.

https://twitter.com/naomirwolf/status/1815208391813329318

While it's entirely possible that Biden didn't physically type up and tweet out the letter himself, no evidence supports the notion that the letter was crafted without Biden's knowledge or input and against his wishes.

Even billionaire Bill Ackman joined in on promoting the theory.

"One would think that a letter to the American people from the president announcing his decision to step aside would not be signed using a digital signature and would be accompanied by a photo op and a scheduled conference in the morning that followed," Ackman said. "Instead we have a digitally signed letter released on the president’s @X account, an account we know that is run by a staffer, no photo, and no live scheduled address to the American people. If I were China, I would invade Taiwan tomorrow."

https://twitter.com/BillAckman/status/1815223669322383628

Conservative columnist T. Becket Adams went as far as to demand "proof of life" from Biden to prove he had actually opted to step aside.

"Can we at least get a proof of life? Even a picture of him sitting next to today's paper would suffice. They're not really going to let this July 17 footage from Air Force One be the last known public sighting until... when, exactly?" he asked.

https://twitter.com/BecketAdams/status/1815365510927683726

Ironically, despite calling Biden unfit to lead for years now, Republicans are now expressing anger over the president's decision not to run.

The coup, as they see it, is denying the will of millions of Democrat voters and is therefore akin to election interference.

Yes, Trump once donated to Kamala Harris’ campaign https://www.dailydot.com/debug/donald-trump-kamala-harris-donation/ Mon, 22 Jul 2024 13:13:30 +0000 https://www.dailydot.com/?p=1628157 Trump previously donated to Kamala Harris

Former President Donald Trump once cut a check to Vice President Kamala Harris, a donation people online are flagging following President Joe Biden's decision to bow out of the 2024 presidential election.

After Biden endorsed Harris for the Democratic presidential nominee over the weekend, news of the previous connection between Trump and the current vice president went viral on social media.

As it turns out, Trump donated a total of $6,000 to Harris more than a decade ago while she was a candidate for California attorney general. The donations, according to public records, show that Trump gave $5,000 to Harris in 2011 before handing over an additional $1,000 in 2013.

A scan of the check Trump used to make the first donation is being shared widely online.

"Since Donald Trump is already attacking Kamala Harris... here's a reminder that he donated to her 2011 attorney general campaign as the AG office investigated Trump University's allegedly illegal business practices," campaign finance reporter Anna Massoglia wrote. "Harris eventually gave the money from Trump to a nonprofit."

https://twitter.com/RpsAgainstTrump/status/1815117228834214179

Left-leaning X users also used the donations to mock Trump by suggesting that the former president clearly viewed Harris as a formidable politician.

"LOL! Donald Trump donated to Kamala Harris in 2011," influencer Harry Sisson said. "Even he thinks she's a great pick for office!

https://twitter.com/ZackBornstein/status/1815116069713088951

Yet the former president wasn't the only Trump to donate to Harris. Trump's daughter, Ivanka, gave $2,000 to Harris in 2014 as well.

Many feel the donations were politically motivated, given that Trump's now-defunct university faced legal action in California at the time.

"Donald and Ivanka Trump each donated to Kamala Harris’s campaign for California attorney general in 2011, when Trump University was facing a class-action lawsuit in California," X user Josh Rudolph noted. "She donated the money to a charity that advocates for the civil and human rights of Central Americans."

https://twitter.com/JoshRudes/status/1815161418821361800

Trump supporters, as well as the former president himself, appear to be remaining quiet about the donations, at least for now.

Trump's campaign has, however, taken jabs at Harris since Biden suggested she run for the presidency.

"Kamala Harris is just as much of a joke as Biden is. Harris will be even worse for the people of our nation than Joe Biden," the campaign said on Sunday. "Harris has been the Enabler-in-Chief for Crooked Joe this entire time."

Vivek Ramaswamy praised for November 2023 guarantee Biden wouldn’t be Democrat nominee https://www.dailydot.com/debug/vivek-ramaswamy-joe-biden-prediction/ Sun, 21 Jul 2024 21:35:36 +0000 https://www.dailydot.com/?p=1628039 vivek ramaswamy biden

An old video of Vivek Ramaswamy predicting President Joe Biden would drop out of the 2024 race eight months ago is re-circulating on social media.

Ramaswamy, who at the time was running in the Republican presidential primary, asserted in Nov. 8, 2023 that Biden would not be the Democratic nominee come November 2024.

“End this farce that Joe Biden is going to be your nominee,” Ramaswamy said during the GOP primary debate. “We know he’s not even the President of the United States. He’s a puppet for the managerial class.”

On Sunday, his prediction became reality as Biden announced he was withdrawing from the race “in the best interest” of the Democratic party and the U.S.

Now, Ramaswamy and his allies are reveling in his vindication.

“A lot of you owe Vivek Ramaswamy an apology for clowning on him as a conspiracy theorist when he said this all the way back in November,” concluded Ashley St. Clair, who also shared a clip of Ramaswamy’s debate comments.

Did Vivek Ramaswamy guarantee Biden wouldn't run in 2024?

https://www.twitter.com/stclairashley/status/1815091879048077595

Another commentator shared Ramaswamy’s debate comments and quoted him.

"’Be honest about who you're actually going to put up so we can have an honest debate’ Vivek Ramaswamy 258 days ago. Well, we're waiting,” he wrote.

”VIVEK CALLED IT,” concluded someone else.

Others echoed that view, with one account commending Ramaswamy: “Vivek is 1000 IQ.”

“People underestimate [Ramaswamy],” said someone else. “The man is a wealth of knowledge and passion. He will be president one day.”

”Vivek was right about everything,” agreed someone else.

“Damn your predictions are impressively accurate,” remarked another X user.

Even Elon Musk doled praise, saying: “Yeah, all his predictions have come true.”

And Ramaswamy himself boasted on X about calling Biden’s withdrawal from the race.

“The anatomy of how a ‘conspiracy theory’ became reality, in just 18 months,” he said, sharing a video of comments he made in Spring 2023 alleging it’s “a myth” that Biden is running for president in 2024 and other clips making similar calls.

He added in a separate post: “Best way to predict the future: just follow the incentives. It’s shocking how precisely right you can be, right down to the exact timing.”
