A conspiracy theory that claims President Joe Biden is now tall after mysteriously growing several inches is slowly becoming the latest hot meme.

The tall Biden conspiracy theory

Last week, far-right conspiracy theorists cited a video of Biden outside the White House as proof that he had grown inexplicably. The theory alleges that Biden, who recently announced his plans to withdraw from the presidential election, has been replaced by a clone, given that he appears much taller than normal standing next to his wife Jill.

"Biden grew a few inches while he was missing for five days..." one user wrote.

The conspiracy theory comes not long after far-right figures claimed that Biden was either on death's door or outright deceased. Yet with that theory easily debunked given the president's public appearances, conservatives latched onto the Biden clone claim instead.

While Biden does look taller than his wife in the above video, the difference is attributable to the low angle of the camera as well as Jill Biden's walking a short distance behind him.

But at least some right-wing users appear to be taking the claim less seriously and have instead begun sharing memes.

Tall Biden Memes

In one example this week, a video altered by a group known as the "Dilley Meme Team" depicts Biden as even taller than before.

"Is it just me, or is Joe getting taller? Is that even Joe?" one of the meme's creators asked.

They followed up the post with an even more exaggerated Biden, who overshadowed Marine One on the White House lawn.

In that clip, Biden walks next to Jill and his son Hunter, causing the camera to shake with each step. They also add sound effects to each step.

The Daily Dot reached out to Brenden Dilley, a podcast host who runs the team that created the video, to inquire about the post. Dilley responded with a screenshot of the Daily Dot's previous coverage of the meme team alongside the statement: "You're welcome to blow me first."

In another post, Biden is towering over the nation's Capitol building.

A caption on the picture states: "At this rate of growth Biden will soon be unstoppable."

Trump's 18-year-old son Barron, who is a staggering 6'9, also found himself in the mix.

"I await their titanic duel," another said in a manipulated image.

Other posts referred to Biden as "Joeliath" and "Giant Joe," while some argued that his nickname should be changed from Dark Brandon to Tall Brandon.

"To all video editors... Now I crave a thread of Giant Joe memes," one user said.

The conspiracy is bigger than the meme

Although the memes were quite apparent to conservatives, they still dwarfed the conspiracy theory that alleged Biden had really replaced by a much taller body double.

"Joe Biden has never been 6’ 4 tall like the ‘body double’ towering over Jill and White House aides," another added. "And he’s never in his life moved as well as this other ‘body double’ caught on the way to his car."

Prominent Trump supporter Bill Mitchell also hyped the claims, posting in image he claimed of Biden in 2022 and 2024.

While the conspiracy theory remains prominent among mainline supporters of former President Donald Trump, the tall Biden memes appear here to stay.

At least until he leaves office next year.

Joe Biden COVID memes are spreading after the President announced that he tested positive for COVID-19. On July 17, 2024, reports confirmed that Biden's test had come back positive and the man himself posted a tricky tweet reading "I'm sick" followed by a message promoting his campaign.

"I'm sick," he tweeted, "of Elon Musk and his rich buddies trying to buy this election. And if you agree, pitch in here."

Musk is reportedly donating $25 million every month to a pro-Trump super PAC after he officially endorsed the former President in his own tweet just after the assassination attempt on July 13.

What does a Biden COVID meme look like?

Most of the Joe Biden COVID memes reference the President's little fake-out tweet trick that started with "I'm sick." Plenty of users are Photoshopping either the follow-up tweet or both in the thread to say something funnier, especially if there's something the memer is personally tired of dealing with.

A third type of Biden COVID meme referenced Vice President Kamala Harris, potentially because some folks think she should replace him as the 2024 Democratic presidential candidate. The latest bout with COVID for Biden comes less than a month after his poor debate performance was explained as the result of him having a cold. It's no surprise that some of the memes coming out now suggest that this time, it is truly "Joever" for the 81-year-old man.

At a press conference following a key NATO summit in Washington D.C., President Joe Biden fielded a raft of questions about his fitness for office.

The questions followed weeks of speculation that he may step down as the Democratic Party candidate over perceptions that his health and cognitive capacity is declining. And while Biden dismissed those concerns, some people saw him admitting that he had a list of pre-screened reporters to ask him questions as undermining that dismissal.

“I’ll take your questions, I’ve been given a list of people to call on here,” Biden said, holding up a piece of paper before calling on Reuters for a question about his political future given calls from some people for him to step down from the race.

Some people couldn’t believe that Biden admitted he had a list of reporters to call on.

“Was he supposed to say that?” asked @jelliott136.

“No. He reads notes and directions off the teleprompter. It’s a known thing,” answered @lissyforliberty.

Back in April Biden was dinged for reading an instruction to “pause” out loud from a teleprompter script.

Other posters defended Biden, tongue firmly in cheek.

“They have to give him a list, do you think he could even remember any of their names?” posted @Elizabe94195648.

After quickly cycling through a series of gaffes—including accidentally calling Kamala Harris “Vice President Trump” while replying to a question about whether he sees her as fit to govern as president—Biden also got confused for a few seconds while reading one of the names on the list.

“He … immediately lost his place on his list of question takers,” posted @Booperstopped.

And given this presser was explicitly expected to assuage people's fears about Biden, the list slip-up didn't quite help.

"Biden says his handlers gave him a pre-selected list of reporters to call on at his "big boy press conference," wrote the RNC.

“Omg,” posted @Jodyjtaylor. “It’s over.”

The face many viewers made while watching last night's old man battle mirrors what has become known as the Joe Biden debate meme. Biden came off as low-energy and seemed to lose track of what he was saying in the middle of a sentence more than once during the first presidential debate of 2024, held on June 27 in Atlanta, Georgia, and the faces he made while he wasn't talking didn't help his image.

This was exactly what Democrats hoped to avoid as speculation continues about Biden's cognitive faculties as the oldest president in U.S. history. The President reportedly spent a week at Camp David prepping for this debate, only to stumble through, mumbling, hesitating, and getting keywords wrong many times.

Here comes the Biden debate meme

One of the weirder parts of the 2024 presidential debate on Thursday night, aside from everything Trump said, was Biden's tendency to stare into space with his mouth slightly open while his opponent spoke. It gave him the look of a baffled and perhaps frightened old man, maybe because he'd momentarily forgotten where he was.

These expressions made for ideal meme fodder as reaction images. Twitter users began posting screenshots of Biden from the debate soon after it ended with captions like "If I send you this, just know I don’t know wtf is going on."

Others picked out a short video clip of Biden staring while Trump rambles until his eyes begin to dart back and forth like he just got some terrible news or is attempting to multiply two large numbers together in his head. It's perfect footage for expressing how one feels when something shocking or confusing happens.

As often happens with memes reacting to a high-profile even like this, the Biden debate memes spread and evolved rapidly overnight. Biden's face was soon paired with other memes, including old favorites like the "NPC wojak" as well as new entries such as the pink Palm Springs shirt diva.

More than anything, especially once the debate was over, the memes devolved into the prevailing sentiment that we are, as they say, quite cooked. This spectacle did little to alleviate the feeling of doom associated with having to choose between Biden and the man who seems to be under a curse that is slowly taking away his ability to speak the truth, even about cool things like having sex with an attractive lady.

After Hunter Biden’s conviction Tuesday morning on three federal felony charges for lying about being on drugs while buying a gun, memes flooded the internet mocking and supporting Biden, sometimes in equal measure and at the same time.

Those memes ranged from tongue-in-cheek calls for Hunter to be freed, irony-pilled fanboying over Biden’s drug-fueled adventures, and standard mockery, along with backlash from others about the pseudo-support for Joe Biden’s son.

Biden’s felony convictions, the first for the son of a sitting president, and the behavior fueled by his longtime drug abuse have long been fodder for jokes, discussion, and potential political scandal.

When a laptop owned by Biden was procured by Rudy Giuliani, then posted online in an easily readable format by conservative research organization Marco Polo, news about Biden’s antics and behavior went even more viral, backed this time by reams of photos and videos.

Footage from that laptop formed part of the evidence prosecutors brought against him during his trial in Delaware court.

After he was found guilty, photos from the laptop were also used by a wide variety of memers, some of whom made tongue-in-cheek about the unjustness of Biden’s conviction, calling it unfair, while others celebrated Biden for being “the man.”

Hunter Biden memes

“Guilty on three counts of being the man,” posted @skanks17 on X, alongside photos from Biden’s laptop of him in a jockstrap, sunglasses, and a red scarf, as well as one of Biden in sunglasses shirtless with a woman photographed to look like former President Donald Trump’s wife Melania.

Some joked they wouldn't take the conviction lying down.

“Sam and I are organizing a Free Hunter Biden rally,” posted @jer_donovan_.

They were joining in a chorus of mostly tongue-in-cheek calls to free Biden, including a meme poster calling for a school walkout on June 14 in support of the president’s son.

Others called for a general strike.

An edit of some of Hunter’s crack-smoking exploits set to Biggie Smalls’ Ten Crack Commandments also was a hit with some posters, with most people sharing the video with a heavy dose of sarcasm.

“guilty of being too cool,” posted @petroglio in one share of the video.

“All the Rightwing does is make Hunter Biden out to be a cool dude,” posted @robisraelart, picking up on the ‘Cool Hunter’ theme a lot of the memes were hitting on. “He likes to party hard, hang with hot babes at motels, and buy guns. Dude is living the American dream that Rightwingers like Joe Rogan and Kid Rock sell to their audience.”

But not everybody thought the jokes were cute, with some people posting that ironic lionizing of Biden for using hard drugs, soliciting prostitutes, and getting away with most of it was nothing to look up to.

“pretending that Hunter Biden is cool and not a repulsive degenerate is probably one of the more annoying thing liberals get up to,” posted @JohnWakefieId.

“What redeems hunter biden is the fact that hes going to jail. His addiction fucked up his life so much the federal government his dad is in charge of prosecuted him and put him in jail,” shot back @zeHappyWarrior. “This guy liked crack so much literally all the privilege in the world couldn’t save him.”

And memes aside, some conservative posters took Biden's conviction to stand on principle, bashing the gun laws that got him convicted.

Footage in which Joe Biden freezes up for a time during a White House Juneteenth concert is fueling speculation on his health. In footage posted by the Republican National Convention to Twitter, the President stands perfectly still in an awkward position for nearly 20 seconds.

Biden may have simply been entranced by the performance of gospel singer Kirk Franklin as he smiled up at the stage. His stillness is highlighted by the fact that nearly everyone else in the footage is dancing to the music.

The President did begin to move when he noticed the nearby photographers. He then came fully back alive when Philonise Floyd, brother of the late George Floyd, started chatting and put his arm around Biden's shoulders. The two exchanged a fist bump before Biden went back to staring at the performers.

As an elderly man under some of the most intense scrutiny of anyone on the planet, Biden's age and potentially related health problems have caused the public—especially his political opponents—to pick apart his every posture for signs that he's not fit to run the country. For many, his old-man moments are a frequent source of amusement, even if they're not ringing the doomsday bell.

This new clip of Biden standing very still with his arms slightly forward in a manner unusual for someone younger but pretty normal for a man in his 80s took less than a day to start becoming a new meme.

As with other incidents involving elderly public figures looking awkward or freezing up, such as all those times when Senator Mitch McConnell was trying to speak in public, people are using the footage as an example of what happens when they get a little too high.

Republican figures reacted to the footage by further pushing the idea that Biden is too old and frail to take on another four years as the President of the U.S. He is currently 81 and would be 82 by the time he began his next term if he were to win this year's election.

Donald Trump, his only serious political opponent, is 77.

As Democrats have done with Trump as well as high-profile Republicans like McConnell who are getting up there in age, Republican politicians and conservative pundits have been attempting to turn voters away from Biden by suggesting he's mentally incompetent.

"Lights are on but no one’s home," wrote the Trump War Room account over the clip on Twitter.

Those more to the left on the political spectrum were more likely to sympathize with Biden or suggest that his brief stillness wasn't anything to halt the upcoming election over. Perhaps he was, in fact, just vibing.

The Dark Brandon meme was born after a Twitter user posted some of this art and commenters came up with the name, spawning an entire genre of images meant to make Biden appear as a powerful villain, or perhaps an anti-hero to his supporters.

Before long, Biden himself was capitalizing on the meme.

Biden has long been known for his wide, toothy smile. The grin helped him develop a reputation as a charmer and a comforting grandfather figure as vice president under Barack Obama. During his 2020 campaign, he used the same grin as he related to voters on trips to ice cream parlors, factories, small towns, and other ice cream parlors.

The newly meme'd grin from May 31, 2024 is just the latest example of Biden flashing this smile to reporters asking questions about his chief political rival rather than saying what may have been on his mind.
