The Unity engine is the most widely used third-party game development software worldwide, and we at IGN Southeast Asia are proud to partner up with Unity to introduce "Made With Unity Spotlight". The objective of this new feature column is simple, which is to showcase outstanding Made With Unity games, explore hidden gems, as well as behind the scene stories featuring some of the best developers and artists in the gaming world.

Cinema 14? What's that? How about Cinema 13?

She is trapped in Cinema 14 with no means of escaping. Uncover mysteries through the halls of horror, avoiding an unknown danger that lingers around. With a total of 14 chapters and 14 different endings, you determine your own path and destiny, it's your choice to tell her story.

Cinema 14 was developed by SoyaDaizu, a small video game development studio based in Malaysia. The creation of this game started off from a dream that the developer, Landon Chia had two years ago as though he just watched a movie in a cinema but he didn't. Pretty inception-like situation there.

Cinema 14 is a game in which he showcases to the world what he experienced. To enhance the game world, the game has a total of 16 original tracks that was composed in collaboration with the talented musician, Wilson Chen.

The game is essentially a story-driven horror survival visual novel with elements of adventure, puzzle and the feel of an escape room. The story revolves around a girl whose first date turned upside down as she finds herself trapped in between the lives of two unfortunate sisters in Cinema 14. Rumor has it that whoever is in Cinema 14 will be trapped forever with an intimidating 8-feet demon that would lurk and hunt you down. To escape, one must complete the movie and find a way to lift the curse. With no help from anyone, the girl must escape the deep mysterious trenches and uncover the secrets.

Made with the Unity engine, the player’s choices help build and advance the story, uncovering hidden truths which will lead to different outcomes. Story paths are not fixed, courses can alter as you proceed through the game. Majority of the game is played in a point and click mode where players must look for clues, items of interest and solve puzzles to progress. However, be warned as jump scares may or may not surprise you at strategic moments. Additionally, players must be aware at all times since there are time-based events that can occur at any time, and if you're not on your toes when it happens, the girl, will die.

Since the game was created by a Malaysian company, the characters inside the video game come from multiple ethnicities in Malaysia. Numerous multicultural references that relate to real-life inspired events and situations which could make you giggle at moments that are uniquely Asian.

Cinema 14 is a game that is best played with headphones as it immerses its players through its original sound tracks, sound effects and compelling story for which it creates a very eerie and frightening atmosphere that would keep its players on edge. For a story that was dedicated a full year to write and few extra months to translate it is very fascinating to see SoyaDaizu dedication for putting in time and effort in producing their games. All 14 endings go back to one main plot that would ultimately reveal all the untold mysteries within the story.

There is yet to be a Cloud Save function for Cinema 14, progress made throughout the game is saved locally once a checkpoint is reached. Deletion of cache, and data will result in all the progress being lost, however in app purchases do remain. The game does require an internet connection, but it can be played offline with the paid version of the game.

SoyaDaizu has recently released the 4th and 5th chapter for the game, with a total of 9 more chapters to come later on. They have yet to release a version for the IOS and PC, but for now the whole game is available on the Google Play Store for free. Be sure to visit their Facebook page to stay updated on Cinema 14 and do check out our Made with Unity Channel where we offer everything Unity.
