Malaysian comic book fans may be familiar with Japanese manga like Doraemon or English classics like Beano, but the Lawak Kampus series has also brought laughter to generations of students in the country.

This iconic comic book series tells the story of best friends Vanness, Aditas, and Froggy, who often end up in hilarious situations as they learn essential life skills in and around school.

In conjunction with Lawak Kampus's 20th anniversary, the series has been brought to life as an animated webseries called LK School Daze, which is aimed at attracting both old and new fans in Malaysia and abroad.

The animated series is produced by Malaysian studio Lil Critter Workshop, which previously won awards for the YouTube series My Little Pony – Tell Your Tale, and they produced the YouTube digital series Emojitown.

A total of 104 animated micro-shorts of LK School Daze will be released on TikTok, which will pave the way for an upcoming 52-episode series to be released on YouTube. Each episode is two-minutes long and will be released in English. A Bahasa Malaysia version will be available exclusively on Astro, Malaysia’s leading satellite television provider.

The webseries, which was produced in collaboration Kadokawa Gempak Starz (KGS), TikTok Malaysia, Astro and Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), was launched at Little Critter Workshop’s headquarters in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia today.

The animated series, which made its debut on April 18 on TikTok, will feature new animated shorts twice a week. Fans can follow the LK School Daze account on TikTok, Facebook and Instagram to keep up with the latest episodes.
