Esports has undoubtedly become a major part of the modern video game industry, with players young and old looking to show off their skills in both amateur and professional competitions. Malaysian gaming website Kakuchopurei has unveiled their new esports initiative with a twist.

Liga Esports Antara Parlimen (LEAP), or Inter-Parliamentary Esports League, is a brand-new esports initiative that looks to elevate the Malaysian esports scene by showcasing up-and-coming talent.

This new league is an original Kakuchopurei initiative, with this amateur esports league aiming to raise a new generation of esports athletes in Malaysia. This first phase will include a variety of games ranging from consoles and mobile.

As the name implies, LEAP will have Malaysians from two parliamentary constituencies competing with each other in friendly matches across two weekends, before a final showdown between the winners of the two constituencies.

This new league is part of Kakuchopurei’s efforts to make esports accessible to everyone on a grassroots level. The organisation also aims to help grassroots esports circuits grow regardless of their respective locations and raise support from local communities.

LEAP's first series of games will take place across Setiawangsa and Bangi on June 10 and June 17 respectively, with this first season culminating in a battle between the two constituencies on June 24.

The games featured this season are Street Fighter 6, Gigabash, FIFA 23, and Mobile Legends Bang Bang. Check out the full post on Kakuchopurei to register and keep yourself updated on future LEAP seasons.
