Playoff Bracket For MPL Season 2 MY/SG

Now that the Regular Season is all done and dusted with all the teams gearing up for their playoff run, let’s look back and see what we’ve learned from MPL Season 2 so far.

EVOS Esports SG Falter

Coming into the final week of MPL Season 2, it seemed like there was no possible way EVOS would not secure top seed, they were on a hot winning streak and were looking good doing it. Players like Bambi & Soul were putting on outstanding displays week in, week out, while Potato, JPL & Kolia were able to form a strong backbone for their carry players to shine.

However, the thing that no one expected to happen finally occurred. EVOS looked beatable. The Singaporean outfit went 1-4 in the final week of MPL, barely avoiding a 0-4 result. They were able to comeback in their first game against GeekFam ICON after trailing for most of the game.

EVOS Esports SG Started Off The Season Strong But Lost Their Final 2 Games

However, they could not capitalise their momentum and ended up losing the series. They then continued their losing streak into their next series, falling to Saiyan Reborn 0-2. A team that looked unstoppable a week ago is now starting to crack & with playoffs just around the corner, let’s see whether EVOS Esports SG can fix their issues and bounce back to be the kings again.

Bigetron SG Is Back

As one team starts to fall the other finds their feet. MPL Season 1 Champions, Bigetron SG were looking like they were not even going to qualify for the playoffs as they started the 2nd season looking weak. They dropped series after series against newly promoted teams and couldn’t find a win to save their own bacon.

However, everything changed once they made a roster swap. They took the decision to bring in ex-Flash Tyrants player, FattyLim, and the team instantly clicked. The former champions showed glimpses of their former selves. Bigetron starting a small winning streak and earned themselves enough points to secure a slot in the playoffs. To top of their new resurgence, they even beat out AirAsia Saiyan in their last series in a clean fashion, announcing to everyone that Bigetron is definitely back.

AirAsia Saiyan End On A Sour Note

The titans of Malaysia, the all-time crowd favourites, AirAsia Saiyan had an opportunity to secure top seed for themselves. All they had to do was to beat Bigetron SG in their final league match, however they fell short. The Malaysian squad looked good coming into the match after dismantling Geek Fam Icon the day before in a quick 2-0.

Many were expecting them to do the same to Bigetron SG and to be fair they started off the series extremely well. They rocketed into an early lead and built a strong foundation. However, they couldn't land the final blow, costing them the game and eventually the series. The lost meant that AirAsia Saiyan would finish in 3rd place and will face against Bigetron SG once again in the first game of the playoffs. A chance to fight their demons once more.

AirAsia Saiyan Will Hope That The Team Will Be Able To Bounce Back And Hit Their Stride During Playoffs

It's not all bad for AirAsia Saiyan as there were many good points to note from the games they lost but not being able to end the game is a huge problem. Thankfully for AirAsia Saiyan fans, they have 3 weeks to prepare themselves and hopefully find a solution to their problems.
