Novoid Arena E-Sports Hub, in partnership with MARA University of Technology (UiTM) Melaka Branch and Melaka E-Sports Association (MEA), hosted the Campus Attack Esports Carnival and launched Roombox, a student-curated space. The opening ceremony and launch was held at the Dewan Taming Sari, UiTM Melaka, Malaysia.

The Campus Attack Esports Carnival was the first of its kind, bringing together more than 300 esports athletes from UiTM Alor Gajah, UiTM Jasin, and UiTM Melaka City to compete for a prize pool of RM3,000 in four games: PUBG Mobile, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Tekken 7, and FIFA 2023.

In addition to the esports competition, the event featured the debut of roombox.my, a web-based application intended to help students manage their social campus life.

The platform links students, groups, alumni, faculty, and societies through college and university events. It includes intra and inter-school networks, an event management system, and a communications tool. Roombox.my's goal is to improve the student experience and foster a feeling of community among pupils.

Associate Prof. Ts. Dr. Mohd Rasdi Zaini, Rector of UiTM Melaka, shared his views on esports, saying, “As a Rector, I have realised that esports is something close to my students. I have also seen that esports has many benefits, some of which include quick decision-making, strategic thinking and communication.

“Many of [UiTM Melaka] students are involved in esports, however, it's imperative that students do not neglect their studies. I also wish the best of luck to students who are qualified for the grand finals.”

Haziq Hamid, chief executive officer and founder of Novoid Arena and Roombox, said that the application has huge growth potential for students.

“We are delighted to collaborate with MARA University of Technology, Ministry of Education, and Ministry of Youth and Sports, which understands the youth especially student market well. We see tremendous growth potential for our respective students in Malaysia and will be aggressively pursuing youth development opportunities throughout the country.

“The web-based application initially launched at UiTM Melaka Branch and will hopefully expand to more public and private institutions of higher learning in Malaysia,” he added.
